Central location and inexpensive hotel with good parking for its location. Room was clean and better than most in this location and price bracket, could do with a bit of a upgrade in the bathroom but that's really all that can be said. Only concern was that we found our door unlocked and ajar when we returned from being out.... More

We chose this hotel for a midweek stay, based strictly on location and price, and we were pleasantly surprised. It is fairly well kept on the outside, but is very old school with the parking lot in the middle and the rooms located around them, courtyard style. The advantage was the proximity to all the major sites and on-site, free... More

Big room with flatscreen TV, microwave, fridge, hairdryer, iron and coffee maker. Secure parking on the ground floor of the property with rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors. There is an elevator. Decor of the room was a little dated, but that didn't bother me. Though our room was non-smoking, it had that stale smell which suggested people had... More

I was looking for a convenient location, not very highly priced and had decent rooms as I with my wife planned to remain out most of the day during our 3 day SFO trip. Our check in could not be done earlier than usual even though we were there at 10:30am due to early morning which was bit disappointing after... More

There is a lot going for this place but a few things let it down Negatives -we placed a do not disturb sign on the door but the maids just ignore it and came in anyway as apparently at this place the sign doesnt mean anything...we had to specifically request at front desk to not be disturbed... -the breakfast was... The Hotel staff were lovely, (a little slow) but accomadating to us. Their was no room to park in the car park (probably because it was 4th of july). The rooms were so small, old and smelt old too. The WIFI was excellent though. This hotel just was really average.

The hotel is in a quieter section town midway between the major tourist areas of Fisherman's Wharf and Union Square, so it was quieter and a bit more residential. Easy access to the numerous Van Ness Ave buses, Hyde Street cable car, and cross-town buses. This is a low-budget, motor inn. My room was adequate, decent-sized for a city but... More

This hotel is moderately priced (for San Francisco). Great location within walking distance of Fisherman's wharf (1.5 miles downhill). If you want you can walk to the wharf and get a cab back. The breakfast isn't exactly the best--just some donuts and coffee. I will stay the font office staff makes up for any shortages. They offered to let me... More

Friendly staff. Clean - but bathroom smelled - needs a good bleach douse-down. And the bedding really needs updating. Owners need to watch just 1 episode of hotel impossible. With so many options, if I visit SF again I would select another; costs varied HUGE from Friday night stay to Monday night stay (like double).

This motor inn is excellent in all respects, but we want to emphasize the location because we use public transportation when visiting San Francisco. The muni lines on Van Ness will take you quickly to the civic center for connection points to many locations. And the staff is very friendly and helpful in making plans.

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
