I had a private room with shared bathroom and toilet, Room was an good size with a wardrobe and sink and very clean. Never had an issue with noise during my stay and room had a fan that kept the room cool. Even though shared a toilet and shower I was there for 5 days and never had to wait... More

I was staying in a single room with own shower/toilet. However the room was microscopical small. There was no wardrobe and hardly any space to put the suitcase on the floor. Even worse there was no desk and where you can put small items or work on the laptop. Wifi was also patchy and slow. Additionally I could overhear the... More

The location is good and the price was right, we knew we would have shared bathrooms but we found that we did have to wait a couple of times for the toilet or shower. There was one male and one female toilet per floor that we could find, not ideal for the number of rooms. The rooms themselves were small,... More

The staff upon arriving were rude and unhelpful. There was never anyone at the door to help keep it open or greet you. The room was so tiny, that trying to have two people passing was near impossible with luggage. Despite double windows, it was still very noisy. The movement of people in the corridor was also extremely noisy where... More

Smallest room on the planet. Barely room to scoot around the bed. Even smaller bathroom. If I used the toilet without closing the door, the door actually had to be between my legs! To close the door, one had to squeeze past the open door edge to get it closed. NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know SF cools down at night,... More

I was left with a limited number of options in SF because I booked late. I will not make that mistake again. If this is in the top 30% of hotels in San Francisco, I can't imagine what the bottom 30% is like. The room was small, the bed was small, the soundproofing was ineffective and I was woken at... Very central hotel with a modern decor. Rooms were quite small but v comfy and ideal if you're not looking for a luxury holiday and just need a crash pad. Shared bathrooms were kept very clean and we never had to wait to use either shower room or toilet. Free coffee and muffins were very welcome. Strong homeless presence in... More

This is a good hotel! I stayed here for three nights with my boyfriend and we liked it a lot! We stayed in the smallest room and like everyone else here says, it is small but it was not a real problem. It works if you are a couple. Also, the shared bathroom and toilet is superclean and newly renovated... More

Small and clean rooms in this old-style hotel. Very central and easy to reach by public transport. Ventilators for good air. Noise from the area around is little too much, but double windows help. Overall a very pleasent stay.

Roomrate in SF downtown was so high, did not have much choice. Room was very small. It was just right for 1 queen size bed. However, it was very clean and comfortable enough to take a rest from sightseeing. The best part is its location. It was very conveneint!!! Needless to say.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
