We were looking for a place for my sister to stay when she came to visit in San Francisco. There was a huge conference in town that week and the rates at chain hotels were astronomical. The Mosser's rates were incredibly reasonable, though there were only shared bathroom rooms left. My boyfriend and I ended up staying at The Mosser... More

Great location half block to Apple Store and two blocks to conventicle yet. Right by the F line trolley that takes you to pier 39. At first I wasn't sure about a room with no bath but this place was great and I would stay again. Nice bar / restaurant but next door also.

A last minute decision to attend a convention left me struggling to find a convenient yet affordable room. I'm glad I settled on The Mosser. The location is wonderful and, while not luxury accommodations, left me wanting for nothing. All of the staff were very professional and friendly. It is very clean despite a slight "old building" smell which is... More

I've stayed there overnight being on a 2-day event in SF. First of all, the location, of course, can't be beaten - it's right in the middle of SF. The room price was very reasonable, especially comparing with other hotels in SF. What you get for that price is a small room - and there's no other way to describe... More

The hotel is located in a great spot. You can walk to China Town, or the Bay if you are up to it. I got a really good deal from Expedia to stay there on a weekend, so I got great location for my money. Two details! First, not every room has a bathroom, I only learned this upon arriving.... More

Stayed here for 4 nights in Jan 2015. Had a room with toilet facilities. Room is small but we know about it already, location is great. Very central to shopping and transportation (nearest to Powell station), walking distance (2-5 mins) from trams and cable car. The good parts: The location! There is muffin and coffee for breakfast at the lobby.... More

We were staying one night in SF for an event in SOMA, and we were going to be in the city for not much more than 12 hours, so we wanted a hotel that was clean/safe and reasonably close to SOMAarts, and reasonably priced. For $149 a night, this was pretty much as advertised. Very small rooms, shared bath -... More

Dear ChicagoGal83, Thank you for your honest feedback- as an independent family-owned property, we are always looking for ways to improve our guest’s stays. This property was built in 1913 and we certainly have some very value oriented rooms that are smaller, which is the room you stayed in. However we do have plenty of rooms that offer far more... We went on a 10-day road trip from Los Angeles and terminating in Vancouver, B.C. San Francisco happens to be our first stop. Being that we're only going to stop over for a night, we chose to stay at the most economical non-sketchy hotel that we can find while still part of the action in Union Square. Behold the Mosser.... The hotel is very clean and well decorated and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very small- as are the beds. Ideal for travelers who won't be spending a lot of time in the hotel room. In a great location, near a BART/MUNI station so access is very good.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
