The hotel is very posh . The hotel room is very elegant and pleasingly arranged. Housekeeping is done and provided with all bath products every day. Fresh breakfast is provided in the executive lounge. It provides drinks and snacks whole day. There is free internet access in the lounge. There is a big swimming pool and many indoor games. The... Decided to stay at this Marriott inspire of complaints about the beds and pillows. Any reviewer that calls them comfortable skeepss on a hard bed with chiclet's for pillows at home. Since location and Marriott Points got us this room And I wasn't planning on eating or drinking there, Room Service and cost of food and drinks did not matter.... More

I stayed in this hotel about 4 years ago and it was pretty nice. Things have definitely skipped in quality since I was last here. I called room service 3 times over a 25 minute period and got voicemail each time. Finally called the front desk to be told "he's busy" - 1 guy doing room service in a 300... More

The location is great, the valet and housekeeping staff are very friendly. I tried to ask the reception desk for a restaurant reccomendation and was brushed off. My room is on the street and it is very noisy, getting a room toward the garden is preferable if you want a quiet room. My bathtub is peeling, I am not sure... More

Besides the great night's sleep, likely due to the down pillows and feather bed topper, our room was very nice. We had a large suite with a desk, sofa and 2 chairs with ottomans and even 2 closets. The only disappontment was the size of the bathroom. It was rather small considering the rest of the unit size, but still... More

Recent 2 night stay here and the new lobby is bright and cheerful. Redesign works. Comfortable room, good service and close to everything at the Wharf. While there ate at my favorite spot Sabella and LaTorre, enjoyed a warm Sunday bay cruise on the Blue and Gold and just enjoyed the warm sunny unusual May weather down at the Wharf.... More

The front desk was awesome. Anytime we needed something they helped without hesitation. We needed a place to go for breakfast they suggested an awesome place that we even returned to the next day. We needed an umbrella and they loaned us one. Got us a late checkout, taxi to pick us up and held our bags till it was... More

My wife and I stayed here 2 nights Friday, Saturday. This is great property in a great location. An easy walk to the Fishermans Wharf, bike rentals and all the water front shopping. We rented bikes for the day and rode to the Farmers Market which is located near Pier 1 about 3 miles from the hotel. We also biked... More

Took our granddaughter to San Francisco for 8th birthday. Had told hotel it was her birthday and when we got to our room, there were milk and cookies waiting for her along with a birthday card. She was thrilled. Everyone who works there were fantastic and made her feel like a little princess. The location was perfect for traveling with... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
