We had a great stay here - as with most Marriott hotels. As so many others have noted, the location is ideal. While in the midst of things, it is quiet and nicely appointed. The staff are friendly and the rooms were immaculate! We paid just over $100 bucks a room and were quite happy with the bang for our... More

We stayed here over 4th of July weekend, great location for Wharf fireworks & proximity to the pier. We were close enough to the pier without being overly close & suffering from noise pollution or having an excess of people around. The room was comfortable, we had a street view, and was very clean. The bathroom was a tad small... More

Our family of 4 adults stayed in this hotel for one night - The location is EXCELLENT, the STAFF was top notch and the rooms were clean and comfortable! The price was high but ALL hotels in San Fran are - we were told that Pier 39 is the 3rd most visited place in the US - 3rd to Disney... More

I stayed at this Marriott during a business trip! The rooms did feel dated a bit but in terms of spacing they were alright! The location of this hotel is to die for! Very central. There's also a diner called loris which opens 24/7 & it's literally right across from this hotel.

The location is excellent. You get to see fab sunrise and sunset at Fisherman's Wharf. They have free coffee in the morning which was very good. I would have given 5 stars but for the price, but I suppose everything is expensive in SF I will change to 5 stars then :) make sure you check out pier 39 to... More

A low-rise hotel in a very convenient location. Room looks a bit old but clean enough and quiet. A number of stores and restaurants nearby to shop & eat. Took us a while to check-in as there were some problems processing the hotel discount we booked earlier. Free wifi in lobby.

I will say that this hotel had a good photographer. We were a bit disappointed in our first look at the building and the narrow, somewhat dark, entry under the hotel. Having said that, once we got inside it was pretty nice. The mobile check-in desk wasn't staffed so I had to wait in the regular line, but they had... More

It was my first trip to San Francisco and I wanted a hotel close to Fisherman's Wharf. I didn't think the Marriott was that spectacular. To me it was very average but the location to all of the tourist attractions was a plus! I didn't think the staff were overly friendly. I was very disappointed that there are no complimentary... Stayed here twice for business. Excellent location and extremely courteous and helpful staff. Rooms were a bit dated when I was there but very comfortable. Lobby was recently renovated. A short walk from the wharf and great food. Public transit is easy to access... Parking is expensive but that comes with the territory.

Hotel has a good location and the staff at the reception desk are great. A tip - ask the Bellhops for advice for things to do and how to get around rather than the concierge service. I've been to several Marriotts and it seems like they are cutting corners in their rooms, and here is no exception. The hotels was... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
