Had a business event at the Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf (too pricey for me) so booked the Marriott. Room was comfortable and validated my Marriott rewards with my online booking so got free internet in my room. Liked the coffee set up and very comfortable room but noise from the street outside was disturbing (and this was a weekday!) Bed linens... More

I recently stayed at the Marriott Fisherman's Wharf. I was reluctant to stay at Fisherman's Wharf because of the touristy aspects to it. It is just not the kind of thing I enjoy. However, I had a conference and had never stayed there, so I decided to give it a shot. This hotel is not aesthetically pleasing from the outside--in... More

Very nice hotel. Comfortable rooms, nicely furnished, nice lobby bar and restaurant. Friendliest restaurant staff in town. Prices in line with other good hotels in the area. Excellent service. Front desk very responsive. Excellent Wi-Fi in rooms and lobby. Two blocks from Fisherman's Wharf. Avoid parking in hotel garage if you can. $54 a day for guest parking. Lots of... More

Great location near the wharf. Very pricey because of the location but worth it. Staff was pleasant, and we were able to get our car in/out pretty easily. Price to park your car was ridiculous...like so many cities. Room was nice, nothing fancy.

Clean hotel, wonderful staff, including the cleaning ladies, they made our trip the best of 2015. Complimentary coffee in the morning, good restaurant, opens early for having breakfast before going to any excursion. Friendly staff and environment, beautiful Christmas decorations

Great Location. Marvelous Marriott service. Comfortable stay with a cozy main lobby. Comfortable rooms very well equipped with standard amenities. Service was great. Good option for a stay near the wharf. Our room was very quiet too.

Great location near Fisherman's Wharf but its an aging property. Nice staff but no concierge lounge but did offer breakfast instead. I would probably try to stay at another place this time if I wanted something upscale.

The location of this hotel could not have been better, this hotel was walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, the cable cars, the Alcatraz tours and Lombard street. The rooms were average, the fitness room was relatively larger than what is found at most hotels and the lobby was very comfortable with a bar and many tables/couches to lounge... More

Had to stay here during a conference and the entire city was fully booked... The cost was 5 times more the usual, but that is not entirely their fault I guess. The room was decent, faces to the street, so you could hear traffic, and really didn't have any personality. Bad was comfortable and clean, but I wouldn't stay here... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
