Our first stop-over visit to the USA we were en route to French Polynesia via LA and decided to stay a few nights in SF as we have friends in San Jose. The hotel is central and we chose a "Bridge view Room" having views of both the Golden Gate and a Bay Bridge which turned out to be on... More

General Manager Bowman has a meticulously trained staff and a jewel property. From the check in to the check out, fantastic attention to detail. I have not had this kind of service since the 1970's and 80's at the Beverly Wilshire when Hernando Courtwright owned the hotel. The recognition by everyone in a big city hotel was astounding. I would... More

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of a road trip from Seattle. The hotel is what it says on the "Mandarin Oriental tin", the rooms are well appointed with a great view being located towards to top of a tower in the financial district. It's biggest issue is the complete lack of presence or atmosphere in the... More

Great staff and views from this property located in heart of business district. Was there just one night but really enjoyed the warmth of the staff. Welcomed me with tea delivered to room and everyone I encountered could not do enough for me. Wonderful property.

I have stayed at the MO before, and quite frankly the one in Vegas is one of my favorite hotels, but this one is definitely NOT on the same level as Vegas. The hotel is just ok, and the service was average at best. I attempted to set up a client lunch at their brassiere, but was informed that due... More

My experience here was memorable to say the least, our check in was seamless, staff couldnt be more helpful, I was celebrating my cancer remission with my partner, so we splurged on the oriental suite. It was well worth every penny we had. We hosted a dinner for friends as well, had the table set for us by the incomparable... More

I spent 4 nights in a bridge-to-bridge room on the 40th floor. The views, as advertised, are fantastic and the room decor and conveniences are high quality without being opulent. The best part about the experience is the service, which is fast, effective and warm. I used room service several times and was impressed very single time at how accurately... More

Stayed at the Mandarin Oriental SF for 4 nights in Feb 2015 for business. Centrally located and close to most of the business activities, view from higher floors were nice. Property itself was OK; it is generally hard to compare properties in the US with the brand new stuff in Asia, so this one is nothing stunning either, but it... More

We spent our pre-cruise night staying in luxuary at the San Franciso Mandarin Oriental hotel. We selected a lovely room with spectacular views over the Oakland Bay bridge, Colt tower, Alcatraz Island and much more. We even had from our room on the 48th floor a special birds eye view of our Cunard QE cruise liner. The hotel staff were... More

It ' s a great place to be . When I arrived I was a bit disappointed because the reception area including the bar and the brasserie is small . However it is really an amazing place to be . The view from the rooms is unbelievable ! The service is so attentive . Looks like being home . They... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
