The room was actually quite large and well appointed, but the view was the best part! All of the views were tremendous from the 40th floor. The service was also superb. I was given some jasmine tea upon check in and the room seemed to be serviced at just the right time when I had left for meetings. The bistro... More

We stayed in a "bridge to bridge" suite and the views of SF, the bridges and the bay were just mind blowing. Service and staff at the hotel were terrific. There's a great little cocktail bar that serves home-made "bottle" cocktails. Right across California St is Michael Mina restaurant, which should not be missed.

I have stayed at the hotel many times, and have always enjoyed those experiences very much. But this was my first opportunity to experience the spa, and it was exceptional in every way. From my gracious welcome to my truly reluctant farewell, it was memorable for countless reasons. I signed up the for California Dreaming massage, which included a gracious... More

A wonderful hotel in downtown San Francisco, the Mandarin Oriental combines luxury accommodations with the highest possible level of service. I had a bridge to bridge view room and the view was indeed fantastic. The room was nicely appointed, the bed was comfortable, the bathrobe was comfy, and the rainforest shower head was great. Even had a strong wifi signal... More

You get the best view, take a bridge to bridge room. Excellent service, good breakfast. It will be a Loews next month. The downside on my last stay here was the check out. Mandarin advertised free WIFi and charged it! Also I had a 50$ food credit each night. This was not fully credited on the invoice. After a brief... More

My wife and I had a 3 night stay. decided to stay at MO because it was supposed to have great views. Our room on the 38th floor offered a panorama from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Terminal Building. This is a daytime view as nothing is lite up at night. Past visits we stayed in Union Square or... Not a fan. Not up to the same level as other Mandarin Orientals (the Landmark one in Hong Kong is amazing!). The Clift Hotel and Ritz-Carlton are MUCH better options for San Francisco. We stayed for 4 nights. This hotel was just so boring - I usually enjoy visiting the hotel bar and restaurant at nice hotels, but this one... More

Dear samp3, Thank you for taking the time to describe your recent experience with us at Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco. We are disheartened to hear that we did not meet all areas of expectations. We currently offer 2 different lay outs of the Superior City View room, both at 350 sq ft. We understand that the space may have been... More

This is the hotel to which all other San Francisco hotels should aspire. Pure class, pure luxury, exceptional views, exceptional service, and one of the most highly rated spas in the world. The beds are comfortable, and the amenities (toiletries, stocked mini bar, robes, linens) are top notch; everything is first class. Ultimately, for any hotel brand at this level,... More

1) Sold to Loews- closing in 30 days? I hope the Mandarin group finds a comparable nearby home. 2) Hotel Overall a) Location- terrific, walking distance to Embarcadero, Ferry Building, Market Street. b) Reasonably quiet for financial district because the rooms are on the top 20 floors of a 48 story mixed use building. c) Only 2 elevators and one... Alas, by the time you read this review the Mandarin Oriental San Franciscohotel is will probably be closed or close to it. The property becomes a Lowe's hotel at the end of March, 2015. Nevertheless for the record I will note that the hotel was excellent. We had a bridge to bridge room with a superb view that was comfortable... More

Dear Michael W, We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Being located in the heart of the city's Financial District, it is convenient to get to the Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, Chinatown and Ferry Building. Cable cars are definitely easily accessible as they are also within walking distance. Your kind words towards the hotel is... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
