Our room was on the 40th floor. The view was truly amazing. The hustle and bustle in the lobby was very lively for business travelers and less ideal for a romantic getaway. The hotel was fully booked while we were there. Service was good, but it wasn't at the impeccable level we have come to expect from the Mandarin Oriental.

My experience here over my birthday weekend was nothing less than exceptional! We were welcomed as soon as we arrived by the valet and doorman. Check in was a breeze and there was chilled Veuve Clicquot champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and a plate of desserts awaiting us in our room. We were also upgraded to the top floor panoramic signature... More

I usually stay at one of the other "top end" hotels when visiting San Francsico but due to lack of availability I decided to stay at the Mandarin Oriental for the first time. From start to finish, this stay was an excellent experience. The room was very spacious and comfortable with great views towards the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz etc.... More

We stayed at the 39th floor of the Mandarin Oriental and the views were breathtaking (when visible!) The hotel staff was very accommodating and very eager to make the best out of our stay. The menu at the restaurant/bar was quite limited, but the items I tried were delicious! Another great recommendation would be to get a massage at the... More

Rooms start at the 38th floor, allowing each of them to have magnificent views overlooking the SF bay. Overall service was flawless, very attentive and anticipating your needs, We enjoyed the calming atmosphere of the room, being on a top floor you barely hear street noises. Our room was a king-size bed with bay views, and it was large with... More

This is among the best hotels I have stayed in regarding absolute overall high achievement. Usually a hotel lacks something! But this chain has seriously got their act together! In a climate where service has taken a back seat, this was a refreshing stay. Breakfast great, spa treatments and therapists double thumbs up. Rooms beautiful and spotless! A must stay.

Flawless and highly professional hotel. Every detail. Staff, room layout and incredible views, dining and bar, and fitness center are above reproach. And reasonably priced. Living on the 38th floor and higher is sublime.

Ideally located hotel in San Fran. Easy check in and lovely welcome from Lily at front desk. Had room on 47th floor which had great views of Bridge and Alcatraz. Nice touch having binoculars in room. Room rather small but well appointed. Toiletries rather disappointing and poor quality for MO. Ben the bartender was busy but had time for a... More

Stayed here for 4 days at Xmas time with my husband as a treat as we know their properties in HK and Singapore very well. Obviously the MO brand is re-known for its attention to detail and the attentiveness of its staff and the MO SF didn't disappoint. However the toiletries were of very bad quality (my hair was dry... My husband and I had a quick weekend away in San Francisco. We absolutely loved the Mandarin Oriental SF. It was first class in every way! The views from our room were absolutely spectacular- Golden Gate Bridge & Alcatraz. Would highly recommend!

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
