A weekend stay at this hotel was a delight. It is an older style establishment with an emphasis on comfort. Every staff member we engaged with was polite, attentive, knowledgeable and we felt genuinely interested in making the visit an experience that we would remember. We have friends who come here every visit to San Francisco, now we know why.... More

This hotel is in a very central location, one block up from Union Square and one block from the cable car. Taxi to the wharf area is about $10. A relatively small hotel it could be classed as boutique. Rooms are large, beds are very comfortable, service is great and the hotel is very quiet.

Stayed for one evening. For 99% of our stay, the service was exceptional. From check in to our room service the staff provided exceptional care. We had both room service and ate at the restaurant for lunch and the food was the best we've had at a hotel. The rooms were adequate, but pricey for what you get. Extremely clean... More

Dear EcoRick, I am so sorry you were here such a short that that you were unable to experience dinner in the restaurant as well as lunch. Now that is a true dining experience! I am especially sorry that your departure did not live up to that of your taste buds. As you suggested, the bell service was not the... More

Dear Bjavana, While I was delighted that you were pleased with our hotel and service, I was sorry to read of your disappointment with distance to the restaurant recommended by our concierge. Whenever asking for help from any concierge, the more information you can give regarding your request, the more nearly he will be able to satisfy your desires. In... More

Booked hotel with American Express platinum card through Fine Hotsls And Resorts Program. Nice hotel and excellent stay but disappointed that I was made to pay for minibar soft drink charges even though thought this could be deducted from American Express fine hotels and resorts $100 food and beverage credit. Plan to discuss this with American Express. Not my experience... More

Dear Hawaii, Please accept my apologies regarding the misunderstanding over the Fine Hotels and Resorts $100 food and beverage credit. Some hotels allow the credit in only one of their restaurants; others allow it in any outlet and some for minibar use as well. Each hotel has the latitude within the program to set its own parameters regarding the use... More

We stayed at the Taj because the city was jammed with a medical convention, but we weren't disappointed. This is like a little boutique hotel, attractive but not glitzy and with all amenities. In the bathrooms, they even use Molton Brown toiletries from England - nice touch! The service throughout the hotel was extraordinary from the front desk to the... More

Dear LKWeiss, We always appreciate hearing from our guests who write such well thought-out reviews and of course I was delighted to read your many positive comments. Not so delighted to read about your uneven breakfast service however. After trying to understand why some days were good and others not, it came down to which cook was in the kitchen.... More

We have stayed at Campton Place for years! After not staying here for more than three years, returned for three nights. We were welcomed back, like we had never left. The rooms are comfortable, service exceptional. We especially like dining in the bar off the lobby, very good drinks, salads, burger and fries. After checking in with our small dog,... More

We have stayed at the Campton Place several times in the past. The rooms have been updated, and the furniture makes good use of the space. While the bathroom has luxury appointments, the step-up to the bathtub and shower can cause problems - even with a bathmat on the floor, there is still concern about slipping. Maid service is fine,... More

Dear Larryderm, I regretted very much reading of your disappointments with our hotel but am happy to tell you at least a few of your objections have been answered. We have, as of the first of this month, a new internet provider which we are confident will alleviate the problem you mentioned. Next, two new treadmills were delivered and installed... More

I was actually disappointed that I had to stay at this hotel due to a change in our corporate travel policy. I typically stay at SPG hotels - almost always at the Westin St. Francis. We had a corp rate of $250 including wireless at the Taj and the Westin was $265. I have to say that I had an... More
