4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed here for two nights in a Premier Room. This was very clean and comfortable, if a tiny bit dated. We arrived very early in the morning off a long-haul flight and the staff were incredibly helpful; offering us a room immediately instead of having to wait until normal check-in time. They were worried about it being a street-facing,... More

A well located older style heritage hotel with loads of history and character. We stayed in a heritage room in the historic section of the hotel. The rooms were older but fresh, clean, reasonably large with a larger ensuite and higher than average ceilings. The Daily Grill restaurant and bar is fabulous. The food is good with a good variety... I was here for five nights. Location unbeatable - next to union square itself, short walk to Powell cable car station, lots of food and shopping in vicinity. I observed that the signboards within the hotel are inadequate. Service from staff was friendly and satisfactory; the person in the lobby with the most initiative is the Asian concierge guy. Breakfast... More

This hotel has a fantastic location - you can see union square from the door, it's also convenient for the Bart (to and from the airport) and the cable cars. Rooms were spacious and beds very comfortable. Free wifi is a real bonus and was easy to connect to and reliable. The free breakfast was amazing- good choice and really... More

This was our first time in San Francisco and were pretty excited to be staying right in Union Square. The location of this hotel is fantastic. Close to shops, restaurants, cable cars and not far from the waterfront. However there are many other hotels in this area and I wish we had stayed in one of them. We were promised... More

This hotel is one of the only places in SF that will put a cot into a room with 2 queen beds, for less than $300/n. The rooms are basic and clean with good WiFi. The service and adjoining restaurant are both excellent. The hotel is a bit noisy due to its location in the center of Union Square, which... More

A very good 4 star hotel with a great central location. We stayed for 4 nights and loved the easy accessibility to the shops and restaurants of union square. The cable car stops very close to the hotel so we used this to reach the sights of Fisherman's Wharf. Our room was very spacious with classic style furnishings and a... More

This was our second stay at the Handlery and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were in the old part of the hotel - by our request - and the place is a little quirky, but comfortable, clean and has a great location just off Union Square. The staff were incredibly helpful, especially the concierge who obviously knows all there... More

I stayed at the Handlery Hotel years ago...and at the time it was way over due for updates and a remodel. I recently stayed again with friends while in SF for a show. I couldn't get over the remodel. We stayed on the Premier side of the property. It was lovely, super clean and quiet. Everything we needed was steps... More
