We stayed for a week. Clean quiet room (overlooking inner atrium (as requested). Staff very helpful. Guests mainly Australian / British / European. John the concierge was very helpful. Hotel bar / restaurant very atmospheric. Would stay here again id in SF.

This hotel survives on its location alone. In the heart of Union Square, it is an old hotel that is in dreadful need of an update. The concierge is fabulous and always there to help, however, I found the front desk staff to be lazy and completely uninterested in prompt, or friendly service. What is worse: the "valet" parking requires... More

I first stayed here in 1974 and the hotel name has never changed. The location is what you pay for and its fabulously close to what you need when on vacation. Premier Room was worth the extra money. Obviously there are much smaller rooms that wont offer the same satisfaction. Nice staff but here is no easy parking here so... More

The location of this hotel was perfect for my recent visit to San Francisco. Right next to a cable car stop and a busline that runs on the same street as the hotel. It is an older hotel but clean. I stayed in a family suite with 2 rooms. The beds were moderately comfortable but the twin beds didn't have... More

We stayed at this hotel at the end of a two month trip in America. The rooms were small, the provided breakfast (belgin waffles) was cold and dry every morning, however what was worse was upon checkin they require a credit card. While this has not been a problem for the last two months at the over 20 hotels we've... More

This was a Priceline pick for us. Our budget dictated under $200/night so that's what we paid including taxes. The location is great - right next to Union Square. There was a lot of street noise at night. The front desk staff was excellent. On Priceline you're given a basic room, so upon checkin we had a double. We needed... More

Stayed at the Handlery Hotel from 9th – 13th Sept 2014. This was the start of our road trip south. We arrived at the hotel after 10+ hour flight. We used the BART from the airport, getting off at Powell. The hotel is just a short walk from there. The hotel is really centrally located for everything and just on... More

The Handlery is located only a few steps from union Square, which makes it a fabulous location. You are right in the middle of some of the best shopping there is to be found anywhere, and all the tourist hop on-hop off buses start here, which makes it very easy to get around. The hotel was very easy to find,... More

I stayed at the Handlery for Dreamforce which is fine for a conference but I would never spend my own money to stay here unless it was a total deal. The location is great. Rooms are quite small and the bathroom is tiny tiny. Room service was absolutely the worst ever. I was on a tight schedule and after waiting... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Handlery Union Square. We were so close to shopping and to the cable car stop on Geary/Powell Street. We walked to shops, dinner, bus stops, cable car and trolley stops easily, rental car pick-up and breakfast at Dottie's Café. The Grille next door was awesome. The skirt steak was so juicy and yummy... More
