Great location, across the street from Golden Gate Park and the beach. I couldn't see the ocean from my second story room but had a view of the dunes. Very flat surface which is easy for walking and biking. There are two portions of this motel. one remodeled and one has not been. I was there because my wife was... More

I stayed here 2 times, a year apart. It was just conveniently located for my purpose (running race in Golden Gate park) but pricey for something this basic and old. I won't stay here any more. I'd rather drive farther and get a better hotel. It does have a fridge and the room is fairly large but the floor is... More

This hotel was the perfect location for me to be at the St Jude Walk at 6:30am. The room was clean and it has a TV, microwave & frig, that's it. No alarm clock, no hair dryer - but that's ok because I knew that ahead of time. I had a 3rd floor room which gave me a little bit... More

The last time we stayed here about a couple of years ago, we just stayed in an ordinary room. This time, we stayed in a room for the disabled. Great room, just a little problem with the front door! The price of the room per night is reasonable!

I recently had surgery at UCSF and my husband needed a place to stay for a week and a half. Honestly, we stayed here based on the fact that they have a shuttle van that runs to and from the hospital twice a day, Monday - Thursday. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The motel is an older non-chain... More

San Francisco is an expensive city, so this hotel might appeal to those looking for a more affordable place to stay. It is close to the ocean and the outside has a weathered look. The rooms are minimalist but do have a small refrigerator and microwave and are spotlessly clean. No elevator and, although every room faces the ocean, even... More

Quiet, away from the maddening crowd...met our needs: ease of access, easy travel to UCSF Medical Center; inexpensive for SF...simple room adequate for our needs; great for decompressing after a full day at UCSF while watching the ocean across the Great Highway; staff friendly, helpful

The Great Highway Inn was recommended to us by a friend familiar with San Francisco. We were looking for something a little bit different. Not just your ordinary chain hotel. This foot the bill!! Nice Location with easy access to all of our needs. Loved the closeness to the beach!! Room and amenities were average but considering what you get... More

We were in San Francisco during Pride week, so the hotel and vacation rental choices were slim to none. After checking it out on the web, we booked the Great Highway Inn. A family of 5 (3 teens) had great accommodations, including a separate bedroom. The unit was clean, but dated, like an older 1960's style hotel. Everything worked well,... More

Great Highway Inn doesn't aspire to resort-style amenities, but does excel at the essentials: Clean, safe, comfortable lodging with good service (including free WiFi that averaged 6+ Mbps, which is more than many tonier places give you.) It's in the middle of a long-term renovation project, but even the older section, where I stayed, was in perfectly functional shape. Location... More
