This Motel 6 is in the Tenderloin, a VERY depressing area, but just blocks from better areas. The sidewalk are populated by many homeless, drifters and those with mental health issues. I saw a robbery occur when out walking one morning. You can hear the riff raft on the streets wailing well into the night. That said, this property, like... More

It says a lot about San Francisco hotels that it's impossible to get a twin room with private bathroom downtown for less than $200 a night ... except at the Motel 6. The motel is a no-frills affair. Towels the size of bathmats, bare walls, beds built to last rather than built for comfort and curtains left an inch or... More

The motel was easy to find and is conveniently located near downtown San Francisco. No breakfast but coffee offered in the morning. We decided to get breakfast in one of the cafes nearby. Exploring San Francisco it's a 10 minute walk to Union Square, and what would be better than taking the cable car to visit Fisherman's Wharf. Our room... More

We just went to SF for our vacation, and at the last minute, I was so lucky that I've booked motel 6 as my home in SF. Before our arrival, my daughter google online n found many reviews about the motel. She's so worried as those reviews said that this motel was not good, in dangerous area, very noisy, dirty....... My husband, myself and another couple stayed here in September of 2013 for 4 nights (wed, thurs, fri, sat). We had never been to san fran before and weren't familiar with the districts. This is in the tenderloin. It's basically the ghetto. At night time there are a lot of homeless people around the hotel. Honestly, I had my husband... More

I scoured the internet to find a reasonably priced hotel in San Francisco, and the best I could find was about $120 a night for a room with a shared bath. Air bnb has some lower prices, but one usually sacrifices privacy. For $115/night, I received a clean, air conditioned room. Motel 6 is like the McDonald's of hotel chains,... More

So this hotel tries. But they can't do anything about the location and ALL the homeless people around this hotel. It was a very sketchy neighbourhood. I wasn't comfortable being outside at dark here. The elevators are located outside of the building and you need a room card to get them to work, but I wasn't comfortable with anyone riding... More

Okay ppl if you are not from the area make sure to do ur homework. Location is "okay" but the WiFi on the 3rd floor sucks big time so make sure you book your room close to the office. I do like the fact that you need the room key to get on the elevator which means no strangers from... More

Best location, best front desk staff, newly renovated rooms, great price. Very safe. Near the best Vietnamese food. Public transit at your door. I will stay there again. Can walk to downtown. Near the shops and cafes on Polk.

As others have said, this neighborhood is pretty dirty and rough, and not the prettiest in SF. That being said, we stayed for two nights and walked around everywhere with no problems. Parking was free which was a huge benefit, and the room was clean. This was a bare bones, no frills place, but was convenient to many popular tourist... More
