so glad we found this delightful, charming little hotel in the perfect location. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Our breakfasts were delicious, with lots of choices, and the women who served us every morning were so welcoming and upbeat - great way to start the day. Beds were very comfortable and the hotel was quiet. We will be... More

This charming hotel reminded us of our recent stay in France. We loved the art work, wall and ceiling painting and the fact that it is small and friendly. The hot, cooked to order breakfast was wonderful as was the close location of the parking - what a boon. The staff is friendly and welcoming right on down to the... More

A very nice stay. If modern anonymity is what you want, look elsewhere. This is a small hotel, small rooms, wonderfully decorated. The staff is friendly without being in your business. The location is ideal, being a hundred feet from the Powell St cable car. Charming.

The ambiance was so much enhanced by the beautiful and delicate paintings that coat the walls, the ceilings and even the doorways. Absolutely amazing. The "junior suite" was similar to those in France, however, interestingly, the furniture comprising the bedroom and the sitting room must have come from 5 or 6 suites: strange, but comfortable. Only six floors. An very... More

This charming French boutique hotel was a welcome home away from home. It is in a great location for walking the streets of San Fran or jumping on the cable car. The hotel is authentically French, beautifully decorated, and very well maintained. Breakfasts are delicious. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. This is a true treasure among the... I stayed here overnight on a business trip. The hotel itself is quaint with hand painted doors and walls. The staff was very friendly and when I checked inn the manager walked me to my room to point out the lights, locks and such which was a nice touch. The rooms was very small by any standard and not a... More

Open the front door and enter a fantasy French world dedicated to charming the guests. There's a feeling that the Cornell has evolved slowly over time, embellished with hand painted vignettes and artifacts that recallJeanne d'Arc. Beds are comfortable and the included breakfast is cooked to order and served in the dining room that recalls a medieval castle.

Dear mimjoh, Yes , Cornell Hotel which added " de France" to its name has evolved slowly.. It was a dilapidated place when we first arrived and it took us forty eight years - the story of our life- to slowly embellish it and be now, proud to welcome appreciative, quality clients with values of the past. Warm regards Claude... More

Went by the reviews to book this hotel, and it did not disappoint. Rooms were small, but clean. Close enough to everything, especially if you're a walker, or right near the cable-car line, if you're not. Staff is excellent & friendly, and breakfasts were delicious. Very economical, for San Francisco! Nice discount on parking at the garage across the street.... More

I had always wanted to try Cornell, was in S.F. from Sac for a 3-day conference and decided to try it on the company dime. Room Reservation Hints: The biggest advice I received was to book the premier queen room in advance. I was able to do this only two weeks in advance and am glad I did. The upgrade... More
