Visited with myself and two teenagers. The Cornell Hotel de France is a cultural experience. Love the ambiance. Many unique features from the elevator to the dining area. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, even when we arrived after midnight. Absolutely would refer friends and family to stay here.

Cornell Hotel de France is small and welcoming though not luxurious. Staff is helpful and friendly.. Hand painted murals in bedrooms and throughout the hotel create a charming ambience. A complete breakfast with choices is offered in the restaurant downstairs. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The location is convenient for walking and to muni bus lines and BART. There are... This is a lovely small hotel with a very European feel. I was in town for just one night and was encouraged by the positive reviews and reasonable pricing to try Cornell Hotel de France. If you have ever stayed in a small hotel in Paris you will feel right at home. The pancakes at breakfast were an added treat.

My work commonly sends us out to San Francisco and let me just say, this is the place to stay! Their staff is beyond exceptional and that alone would keep me coming back to this place. I have worked with both Joan and Jose and they are the best; friendly, attentive, and extremely helpful. On top of that, the hotel... More

Whenever we come back to San Francisco we will definitely look to stay here again. From the gracious courtesy upon arrival with a personal escort to our room, to the warm and polite thank you as we left, this was a wonderful experience. The mid size room was small by US standards, but we still found it to be more... More

How quaint. European style charm, gated elevator, French printed wall papers, claw foot tubs. Monet, Gauguin, Matisse, Manet, Toulouse, Picasso and other prints adorn the Victorian rooms. Great hospitality, and the French Fix Prix Cuisine, oh la la! A tea room off the reception, with mouthwatering chunk chip cookies too. If you are fortunate to meet Monsier Lampert you are... More

Made $400 reservation at orchard and when arrived said they had no room and they had transferred me to Cornell. It's horrible, crappy, mold smelling hole! I have meeting in an and my clothes are going to stink of mildew and no ac only open windows viewing pipes. Orchard screwed me royal!

Pros: Pleasant staff that is not just friendly, they are helpful as well. Included breakfast was freshly cooked and wonderful. Small hotel feel at a reasonable price. Close to Chinatown, cable cars and more. Cons: Neighborhood is so-so, but not scary. You have to remember you are in San Francisco and be prepared for "stuff" you might not see elsewhere.

The Cornell Hotel de France is in a great location, close to many forms of public transportation. The staff, particularly Jose, were extremely friendly and helpful in getting us around the city. The room was what I would expect in any urban setting - somewhat small but nicely appointed. The bathroom appeared to be pretty updated - it was very... More

Cornell Hotel de France is small, cozy, well located and the staff is very friendly & attentive. Breakfast was delicious, with grat choices and great service. It's a bit of France near Union Square. Overall a very positive experience.
