I've stayed here 3 different times over several years. Comfort Inn by the Bay is definately on a downhill slide. My most recent stay was last April. The pro of staying here is the location. The con list is longer... rude, unfriendly staff, horrible parking garage to maneuver, rooms unimpressive, and windows FILTHY!!! I did complained to the management and... More

Stayed here for 1 night and glad it was only 1 night. My room was noisy- given there is a noisy bar near by, the window did not close - had to call reception past 11pm to ask for help and even they were unable to close it, and it was far too warm - so the broken window which... More

My room (1109) was on the top floor with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge, harbor, and city, so the view was spectacular. The hotel is on the corner of Lombard St. and Van Ness Ave, so there is a lot of traffic, but being on the eleventh floor, I was not disturbed. It is about a 10 minute... More

Stayed 4 nights, March 7-11. Quiet room (8th floor), comfortable bed. Nice hot shower. Very good breakfast; staff kept it well stocked. Good assortment. The staff are the best! Every single person we dealt with was friendly and made us feel welcome. Had good tips on which bus to use to get places, time of travel, etc. They also arranged... More

It was very quiet, not sure if because on a lower level and people like to get the view rooms but I was also satisfied with the AC/Heat unit in the room which was comforting throughout the night. I'm particular about that. Even a nap during the day was doable! You wouldn't think from the outside it is updated but... More

Stayed at this hotel because it was a reasonable price for San Fran. What can I say, it's a place to sleep at the end of the day after exploring the city. Ok bed, comfortable pillows, clean bathroom, perfect size for 2 people. You do get traffic noise, it's a very busy intersection since its on Lombard and Van Ness.... More

The hotel is a typical 2 star hotel. The breakfast is good, toast, waffles, yogurt, cereal, cofee, juice and fruits. The rooms are clean. The people working at the hotel are really aware they work at a 2 star hotel and do not want the hotel to be a 3 star aparently. The Location is really great!!

This is my 2nd time staying at this hotel, came back for the view and location. This was on the backend of business trip in San Jose, and wanted a break in San Francisco before heading back east. Of course you want to reserve a room with Golden Gate Bridge view, the higher the better. The location is good for... More

All of the front desk staff were courteous and knowledgeable about their hotel, the area around the hotel and San Francisco. Check in was a breeze, the rooms spacious and well appointed. Lots of lamps for reading, two lounge chairs plus a work table and chairs. This hotel is geared for large crowds as evidenced by the large breakfast room... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
