All of the front desk staff were courteous and knowledgeable about their hotel, the area around the hotel and San Francisco. Check in was a breeze, the rooms spacious and well appointed. Lots of lamps for reading, two lounge chairs plus a work table and chairs. This hotel is geared for large crowds as evidenced by the large breakfast room... More

If you are looking for a fairly good priced hotel in the North section of the San Francisco downtown area, this is a good alternative. Rooms are nice and tidy, personnel is friendly! Breakfast is OK, but not more. Free Wi-Fi sounds good, but is not. That is, you get Internet connection now and then, but never for more that... More

My family of five stayed at Comfort Inn by the Bay just before Christmas and overall our experience was very good. There were five of us and we all stayed in one room the first nite using a rollaway. That was a little too cramped so we added a room. Both rooms were in great shape, clean and cared for.... More

Nice hotel in a very good location. Staff were very friendly and although reasonably tight, there are good parking facilities. Even though you are on a main road (on two sides), I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was in my room. Room was comfortable and spotless. Breakfast was included and was good - fresh and hot food, cereal,... More

Choose a high room when you book - you pay a little more for it but it's worth it for the view! Very affordable accommodation right near the city - walking distance to Aquatic Park and Lombard street. Bathroom small but room is clean and beds comfortable.

We stayed here with two rooms, we had the offer including the buffet breakfast. Rooms had been renovated since our last trip but they had not renovated the bathroom. We had room with two doubles was more than adequate for our 4 night stay. Again tea the water has to be boiled in the coffee maker . No fridge. We... More

I had one night in San Fran and chose this hotel due to location being close to concert venue (The Warfield). I originally planned to walk but it might have been a bit far for me in the end so I did uber. Hotel was nice, clean room, nice bathroom with tub, there was no fridge (I don't remember microwave... Great location although a little noisy from the traffic as its on a busy intersection. The room was lovely and clean but very basic. Smallest bathroom I've ever seen! Friendly lady on the front desk let us check in 3 hours early after a long flight from NZ that was much appreciated. You must try the subs from Vikings Giant... More

Located in fisherman's wharf area made it easy to walk to most places. Little walk to the wharf, but not too bad. Rooms are OK but nothing amazing. Free breakfast is nice since most hotels don't offer that and decent amount of food options. Staff was friendly. Not the best hotel I've ever stayed in, but decent for being priced... More

The BAD: Room was cold, humid and moldy and it had a bad smell. Windows very dirty and didn't open. WiFi didn't work in the room and staff couldn't fix it. Breakfast really bad. The GOOD: The towels and linen were clean and the bed was comfy. The location was good. No bedbugs. Would not stay here again.

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
