We stayed for one night to attend a concert at nearby Masonic Center. Staff was really friendly. Valet parking was only $40 which is good for the city. Rooms were simple clean design. Would stay here again. Only problem the elevators were slow due to construction.

This hotel is a little gem. It is full of character, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and our room (920) was very comfortable and quite spacious. The wine reception each evening was great - especially on nights when an employee turned musician. The restaurant is superb. Convenient location. Thoroughly recommended.

We enjoyed our recent stay at Hotel Carlton. We found the staff very helpful and always friendly. Rooms were spacious and decorated beautifully. At night slight noise but ok as you are in the city. Close walking distance to all the good places. Reception happily organised our airport transfers etc. Thankyou again your hotel is beautiful.

We spent 5 nights in San Francisco while visiting out daughter in LA. We researched the hotels thoroughly and decided to avoid the most popular tourist areas and the big chain hotels yet still be centrally placed for transport to all the places we wanted to go. We spent the first 3 nights here and were absolutely delighted with our... More

The hotel has a great ambiance to it. Staff is exceptionally nice and funny. Giovanni and Romel have a great sense of humor and are extremely helpful. We were able to check in earlier than expected and the front desk staff were very helpful on recommending places to visit on the day that the huge storm hit. I don't think... More

I recently stayed at the Hotel Carlton during SF's latest #hellastorm for a conference on the top of Nob Hill. Rather than pay the OUTRAGEOUS room rates to be at the top of Nob hill, this hotel is a moderate walk (take Larkin to California is a much gentler slope). The rooms are very nicely done - modern features, well-appointed,... More

Stayed one night with Hotel Carlton. Took a taxi from SFO to Sutter street, smack in the middle of downtown. On arrival, was presented with a complimentary glass of wine. There was a live acoustic guitar performance in the lobby, and soon we had our key cards. The double bed room was cozy, clean, beautiful. The bathroom was wonderful, stocked... More

This is a very nice older hotel in a great location for seeing downtown. It's a few blocks from the streetcar line and major transit lines as well as just a few blocks from a major access road. Much cheaper than staying in the financial district or fishermans wharf. While taxi's are plentiful we got a citypass with unlimited transit... More

If you have only traveled domestically in America, this is not your typical modern hotel. It reminds me more of the older hotels I stayed at in the UK/Ireland. The rooms are pretty small, but clean, the bathrooms had been modernized, and they were also clean, but there was still a lot of visible piping and things that if it... More

My husband and I stayed in this hotel recently and really enjoyed it. The building itself is beautiful and the rooms are perfect! I loved staying in a hotel that felt more like a home than a grand hotel. The staff was great, everyone was very helpful and kind. The room we were in was on the top floor with... More
