Not sure where to start. There was no one there to help with bags when we arrived (nor when we departed) so we had to lug bags down half flight of stairs to hotel lobby and then to our room. Room lacked lighting, Very dim. Bathroom was moldy. Door frame to bathroom was rotting at bottom. Walls were scratched and... More

I was in SF this past week for my Bachelor party. The hotel looks like a rainbow threw up on it....which is actually just an observation and nothing to do with my experience. While the hotel itself is nothing special the beds were comfortable. The real fun began Saturday, yes Saturday morning, at 8:30 when construction began above and beside... More

Dear Ermcmorrow M, Thank you for sharing your feedback with the TA community. I was disappointed to read about your experience. Rest assured, I am reviewing all the times of the renovations with the team and will ensure that additional coaching and training is done to assist with the proper way to respond. We would love for you to return... More

This is a budget hotel. Clean rooms, with plenty of space. Good breakfast. The neighborhood is very interesting. On one side, Japantown, with tipical stores and restaurants. The other, Filmore st. with fancy stores. The facilities are: parking, friendly staff, easy to go downtown, about 25minutes walk. Fair prices.

After confirming with the hotel twice, and making sure they knew we'd be coming in late, we arrived at 2 am only to be greeted with the news that the hotel no longer had any room available. They sent us to another hotel in an area we didn't want to stay (had deliberately made reservations in Japantown because it was... More

Dear aathef, Please accept my sincerest apologies for the experience you had with us. Rest assured, I am doing the proper follow up. This is not the level of service we are known for at Hotel Tomo nor Kimpton. If there is an opportunity for you to return I certainly would assist directly and work to make it up to... More

This is a terrific place to stay in San Francisco. Easy walking to fantastic restaurants (Sweet Lime Thai, Dosas Indian, Sweet Maple for breakfast, The Grove for even better breakfast IMO...). The bus routes are nearby and very convenient, gets you all over the city. A Safeway store a couple blocks away... The hotel itself is a bargain, especially right... More

Dear Matt G, I was very glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us here in San Francisco! Impressive that your wife took the bicycle out to the Golden Gate Bridge. That's a great ride. Thank you for your comments regarding the service you received, I'll be sure to share those with the team. We hope to see you... More

I love the hotel's location in Japantown. It is a short block away from Peace Plaza. If you're looking for sushi, ramen, etc., then you won't be disappointed. The hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The decor is fun. Even if you don't enjoy anime (and I don't), you'll find the artwork interesting. My hotel room was spacious and... More

Thanks a lot, NaomiPugs! I am glad you got to enjoy Japantown and the great food there. Next time, you can also adventure to Fillmore Street 1.5 blocks West and enjoy a ton of restaurants and shops there. Our location can give you a neighborhood sampling :). Cheers, Emily More

Right in the heart of Japantown. Easily found hotel. We were greeted with a choice of sake or wine. Check in and out was very easy. I did noticed once we were out of the lobby and into the hallways, the carpet looked like it needed to be replaced. The room was fairly big and consistent with the lobby decorations.... More

Hi, SarahECali2015, and thanks for coming to the Tomo! We are indeed in the process of "Kimptonizing" and are already decked out with some of the fun perks like the free wifi, bike rental, wine/sake reception, etc. The current hallway carpet is not my favorite either, though I love the beds. You might prefer the Kimpton standard pillowtops that are... More

Thanks, MikeMD115! I am glad that you got some extra California sunshine here with us and got to enjoy the nearby neighborhoods and history. I love how the Tomo gives you a real taste of San Francisco and you can go "incognito" as a tourist. More

I was traveling to SF on business. The reason I picked Hotel Tomo was that their room rates were well below average and got such raving reviews... And well it is now a Kimpton. I only paid $140 for one night. And it was in a cool part of Japantown, which I had never been before. The Arrival I arrived... More

Hi, SarahFromChicago, I see that you are a huge Kimpton fan, and it is true that the hotel is currently being styled to meet that aesthetic, with several items complete and others in progress. On the plus side, I am glad that you enjoyed the beds and the staff took swift care of you at check-out. The other items will... More

Had a great experience at the Tomo. Gave it 4 rather than 5 stars only because the bed was so noisy. Perhaps it was the room that I was in. Otherwise, the location is across the street from the pedestrian mall in Japantown. There is parking under the hotel, and restaurants and nightlife are right there. Not sure I've ever... More

Hi, RudiB877, I'm glad you got a kick out of the murals here and of course the location is very special. We always want guests to feel like they are having a boutique experience that is not "cookie cutter" :). The location does give us a head start on that since we're in a true neighborhood where you can feel... More
