If you are a lawyer who has a case in front of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, this is a perfect location - a block from the courthouse. The proximity makes the hotel one of the better hotels to stay in. In comparison to other hotels in the area, it is superior; however, it is average overall.

Love the location , decor and theme . Great value and out of the ordinary . Great bedding and linens . Great pillows and I'm picky. Only drawback was only 1 ice machine and 4th floor and didn't seem to be working . Out of service patio and spa on the 2nd floor . Sister hotel across the street has... More

This was my first time visiting San Francisco, and I booked this hotel because it was close to all the sites that I wanted to visit. The review of it on trip advisor was very good as well. They also got complimentary breakfast as well. Their complimentary breakfast include things like fresh fruits, orange juice, coffee, tea, cereal, and bread(a... More

This hotel underwent a recent removal with rooms named after notable , interesting San. Franciscans. The rooms are snazzy and comfortable with great beds and bedding, good lighting and seating and a biography of the room's namesake on an antique typewriter. Our room had a fireplace and was amazingly quiet. There is on-site affordable parking with in and out privileges.... More

Overall a good, nice and clean hotel. Rooms were big and had comfortable beds. Room interiors were also nice. Breakfast was the same for the whole 4 days we stayed there. Check out took too long as there was only one person on the front desk and even though we already paid the room in advance, check out still took... More

I've stayed here several times since the late 90's and put up family members at The Carriage Inn when I lived in SOMA in the early 90's. Every experience has been positive! Though my last visit was 2 years ago, I am looking forward to booking a stay again at The Carriage Inn this fall while in San Francisco for... More

This hotel is located in the SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco, just a five minute walk to the BART and about 10 minutes to Union Square with all the shopping. Though perfectly fine during the day, I wouldn't walk around much at night except to and from the BART at Seventh and Market. The hotel itself is small but cute... More

Dear AaronSB, Thank you for taking the time to share your review about The Carriage Inn with the TripAdvisor community. While the place is a bit quirky, the beds are very comfortable and the staff is amazing! Can not say enough positive things about Brian and Mina, who took care of everything we needed. The housekeeping staff was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this hotel. It's not too far to walk to shopping, Dottie's for breakfast and other sights.

We live in the Bay Area and have stayed in SF hotels many times. We stayed at the Carriage Inn on New Year's and thought it was well worth the price we paid. Nothing fancy like the "nice hotels" but room was eclectic with tasteful decor (example: ours had a really old typewriter on the table). Basically the hotel is... More

My sister and I booked this when many other rooms we looked at were about as big as a postage stamp. We were so PLEASANTLY surprised to check into Lefty O'Doul's room (the rooms are named after famous San Franciscans). Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
