you go to San Francisco to get a taste of the charm of a city constructed pre-automobile, and that's what this hotel has to offer. It's no glass tower with modern amenities, but it's centrally located, clean, rooms spacious for a hotel built in the 19th century, and service is just fine, i.e. valet parking for $30 overnight while St.... On balance this hotel is a great value. Ok, so it's older, etc. but for the price who's complaining. It's clean, the staff courteous, has a homey feel, and, if you ask for a room not on the street, it's quiet. Just a few blocks from Union Square for the shopaholics.

The hotel was clean. We stayed in the room next to the business center so we thought it would be loud, but it wasn't. The room was small which is pretty typical of older hotels in cities. There was not a view as we were on the bottom floor facing the court yard. That wasn't a problem I was only... More

For those looking to spend less money for a hotel in downtown San Francisco, this place is great. Remember folks, if you want the Fairmount Hotel then be willing to pay more! Don't complain when YOU skimp on the rate and then expect a five-star hotel. It just doesn't happen that way. The hotel opened in 1913. That means it's... More

My cousin and I spent an extended weekend at the Hotel Beresford. As mentioned in previous reviews, the hotel is in need of updating. The carpeting is dingy and the decor is dated. Also the lack of air conditioning would have kept me from getting a room at the Beresford had I known in advance. The pluses are a nice... More

My husband and I enjoyed our short stay here. The rooms were great, comfortable and clean. The room rates were fine. Wifi was great. The staff were great, especially the lady at front desk...she was wonderful, very helpful and accommodating (we forgot her name). Complimentary breakfast was great. The location was excellent, surrounded by shops, restaurants, cafes. Definitely recommended.

We stayed here for 6 nights at the beginning of a 4 week road trip around California. The hotel itself needs a little updating in terms of the decor but that kind of thing never bothers us. The bed was very comfy - we both had great nights sleep. It was in a perfect location, stones throw to Union Square... More

Rooms are very small, this is an older hotel. BUT - it is clean. Also wifi is available in the guest rooms, password is provided at check in. We found the wifi fairly quick and reliable. A small pub is located just off the lobby. Would not recommend during warm weather, there is no AC, but they did supply a... More

Very rude and unhelpful reception staff. Room were small and very HOT - no air conditioning. A lot of road noise (we were on 5th floor). Our room next to lift which sounded like an earthquake! Booked months in advance so very disappointing - definitely would not recommend!

We stayed at this hotel when we visited SF. It is on Sutter Street and its location is extremely good - Convenient to everything practically. The rooms were nice and it had an attached restaurant named the White Horse which we ate in several times. The food was uniformly good and relatively reasonable for this expensive city. Breakfast was included... More
