At $99 per night, I wasn't expecting too much. I was pleasantly surprised however. The hotel was 5 mins walk from Union Square, so nice and central. Whilst the hotel is quite "old" looking, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was basic but provided a good start to the day. The complimentary cheese & wine in the... We stayed from April 27th-May2nd, five nights. This hotel is one of the oldest in San Franscico but I think it was full of character. We had two rooms with an adjoining door between. As there were 8 of us, it made it easier to put the children to bed and we still had somewhere to sit and watch TV.... More

We have made the Beresford our home away from home for the last 15 years. Our trips to San Francisco are quite often: next week will be our 4th visit this year. During the past 15 years we have tried some of the 5 star hotels with room 3-4 times the cost of the Beresford Arms. It is older, and... More

Centrally located just two walking blocks from Union Square, this hotel was a comfortable introducition to accommodation in San Francisco. The hotel was well worn but every effort was made to keep it clean and functional. The room was a generous size with plenty of storage and cupboard space with comfortable seating in the room and a desk. The inclusion... More

This hotel is a perfect choice for those people looking for a hotel that fits the budget, is clean, and is centrally located. The rooms are small but not cramped, and its furnishings are clean but somewhat worn and dated. That said, however, I would definitely stay here again. It's only 4-5 blocks to a cable car stop and Union... More

Stayed here again for a return visit after a 6 year absence, and what a disappointment! The Beresford Arms is on the National Registry of Historical Places, but what a disservice they are doing to the building. The hallways reek of -- I'm not sure how to describe it -- old dirt, grease, and dampness. The rooms are large, which... More

Just back from 6 nights at the Beresford we had stayed in motels driving up to San Fran (SF) due to the collape in the £ over the last few mths, but wanted someting more central and with character. The Beresford fitted the bill, and at less than $100 per night was great value. The rooom was very large, well... More

Just back from 4 nights at the Beresford Arms Hotel, San Francisco. Good location hotel for city centre and site seeing with Union Square just down the road. The rooms are a bit dated but perfectly suitable for a city break and the staff were very helpful to us all. The breakfast is a bit disappointing, as it is really... More

After checking out several small hotels, we booked a basic room with the Beresford Arms for a long weekend in January. After reading several reviews, I requested a room on a higher floor facing Jones Street because of traffic noise. The room we got was very nice, but small with a very small bathroom. We asked the desk clerk if... More

We (family of four - 2 teenagers) have just returned from a 5 night stay in San Fran. We stayed at the Beresford Arms Hotel near Union Square. It was a great location - 5 minute walk from Union Square and the cable cars. Don't walk west of hotel as it gets a bit seedy. Hotel is not a/c so... More
