This is obviously an older property but the suite rooms are a reasonable rate and come with a spa bath and kitchenette. Great for travelling families.. Union square is only a 5-10min walk and shosp and restaurants are accross the road.. Can be a little noisy at night due to fire brigade being close by but this didnt worry us.... More

We booked this hotel at the last minute and got a reasonable rate but because of this we must have got the shabby room. We did see in other rooms and they were nicer. But our room needed a coat of paint and new curtains as ours were torn. But our main problem was the lack of hot water. When... More

I stayed at the Beresford arms for four days during a tour of California. Initially I was concerned at seeing the faded signage outside however other than that I cannot fault this hotel. Location is perfect, 5 minutes from the bustle of Union Square but far enough out to be “relatively” quiet. The room I had was of excellent size... More

I like historic hotels, and my husband surprised me with a stay at the Beresford Arms on a weekend getaway to SF. The outside of the hotel and the lobby are great. The room wasn't bad, but the decor was a little out of date. It was very clean. Once we figured out how to open the windows, it was... More

I came down to visit a dear customer who is a local and we were both surprised that not only was the room spacious, it had a decent sized kitchen! There were 2 queen sized beds with clean newer looking linens and nice appointments. The bathroom had a large, jetted bathtub (I didn't use it though but it was a... More

My family of three (me, wife and teenage daughter) and my older parents (in their 80s) stayed two nights here. My review may be a little unrepresentative since I was upgraded to the largest suite in the hotel after our booked mini-suite was horribly unprepared for our evening arrival (i.e., it had not been cleaned and was a mess). Our... More

We stayed here for 4 nights with our 11 and 16 year old children. Wonderful old hotel on the historic register of San Francisco! Very affordable and CLEAN!!!! Walking distance to Union Square, Chinatown and some great restaurants...heck, you could even walk to Fisherman's warf if you wanted to. Though this hotel is only about 2 blocks from the Tenderloin... More

Our first impression of this hotel was that it reminded us of an old peoples home….a kind of Fawlty Towers hotel! It appeared dated and had a little bit of a funny smell but it was a very nice hotel! We stayed here for 1 night. Check in was easy and the man on the desk was very helpful. We... More

The only reason why I stayed here was because it was the cheapest half way decent hotel I could find during Fleet Week at $124/night. All the other hotels were much more money since Fleet Week is a very busy time to visit. The hotel is in a good location about 3 blocks from Union Square... It is quite an... More

Stayed there in a junior suite. Weather was warm, but hotel didn't have air conditioning. "Free breakfast" turned out to be some cut up fruit and muffins/croissants and tea/coffee, to be eaten around coffee tables in the hotel lobby. Staff were OK. Good location and reasonable rates. Hotel was comfortable, but not salubrious in any way.
