Booked online after searching through hundreds of hotels in SF. Exactly what we wanted; mid price, good location, good sized rooms, all suites. Quite grand looking, very slightly faded grandeur! Staff really helpful and friendly, rooms clean.Breakfast not very exciting but good coffee and muffins, sets you up to walk to Powell St and sample Sears fare! Booked hop on bus... More

Four years ago we visited San Francisco as a family and stayed (after my son's searching) in the Beresford Arms. It was so welcoming and old fashioned we have returned to stay, this time with a couple of friends. It was again welcoming and quaint. Unlike most modern hotels where you could wake up and not know which city in... More

this hotel was very centrally located close to Union Square. It was a renovated older hotel with many original features. Our room was a spacious mini suite with a stocked kitchenette; but there was no coffee in the rooms as they had run out. the bathroom was very large and recently modernized. The included breakfast consisted of fruit and pastries... More

Older, quaint atmosphere. Convenient to Union Square and bus lines. Very clean, neat and in great condition. We had a suite which gave us a lot of room for two couples and it was great to have the full kitchen facilities. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Others have mentioned the noise, but we did not notice any exceptional noise for... More

Rooms are in desperate need of some TLC. Bed was the worst I have ever slept on, old and small box TV, no flat screens in sight. The bath tub never drained properly so you would be standing in horrible grime. To top it all of the rooms are terribly noisy from outside traffic and neighbours slamming the doors to... More

Beresford Arms is a nicely renovated hotel on the edge of the typical tourism area. It is very conveniently located, as it is a several short block walk to Union Square and a slightly longer walk to Market Street. Though it is in the “hilly” part of the downtown area, the slopes are manageable to the south and to the... More

The Beresford Arms is a beautiful and clean historic hotel, with a gorgeous main entry room for relaxing and visiting. The staff is friendly, gracious, and very helpful in tips for exploring the city, and we appreciated the honor bar in the room that helped us stay hydrated with water, fruit juices, etc. (alas, did not get a chance to... This hotel is near to Union Square and well placed to travel to the various points of interest via the trolley buses. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and complementary cheese and wine is served each afternoon. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

the 2 double room was a bit small for 4 adults but given the reasonable price and the proximity to unpin square, it was well worth the squeeze. also, parking was about $30/ day with in/out privileges which is a bargain in SF Staff is very helpful and friendly

Stayed a couple of nights before we drove the Pacific Coast highway. Yes, it's a little dated but really comfortable and service was excellent. We got upgraded to a Parlour suite! Loads of room for four people , huge bathroom and spotlessly clean . There's a great Thai restaurant opposite which looks nothing but is fabulous! Give it a go.
