Very pleasant hotel close to Union Square, good spacious room, muffins etc for breakfast in lobby, enjoyable happy hour in the afternoon after a day's sight seeing and close to very good restaurants in Post Street. Would like to mention an excellent laundry a couple of blocks from the hotel in the direction of Union Square. Our car was looked after... More

I am positive that at the turn of the 20th Century, this place was amazing. The lounge area when you walk in is beautiful with coffered ceilings and lovely wood and plastic work reminiscent of yesteryear. My ex took me here for our first trip together. When we entered the room, my heart sank. It was like being transported back... More

I went here with a friend, and the service was amazing. The room was good, old fashion, but still good. The bathroom was great, and clean as well. The location is great, and you will be close to downtown. Haight and Ashbury is not very close, but if you walk there there is a lot of great places to see.... More

on a road trip of California this was probably least impressive of hotels/motels we stayed in.good points, within short walking distance of union square, nice touch with complimentary wine about 5pm in foyer.room was just ok,noisy at night but excusable with location.distinctive San Francisco odour was evident ! stay soured by rude male receptionist. used booking.com for hotel but on being... Booked online after searching through hundreds of hotels in SF. Exactly what we wanted; mid price, good location, good sized rooms, all suites. Quite grand looking, very slightly faded grandeur! Staff really helpful and friendly, rooms clean.Breakfast not very exciting but good coffee and muffins, sets you up to walk to Powell St and sample Sears fare! Booked hop on bus... More

Four years ago we visited San Francisco as a family and stayed (after my son's searching) in the Beresford Arms. It was so welcoming and old fashioned we have returned to stay, this time with a couple of friends. It was again welcoming and quaint. Unlike most modern hotels where you could wake up and not know which city in... More

this hotel was very centrally located close to Union Square. It was a renovated older hotel with many original features. Our room was a spacious mini suite with a stocked kitchenette; but there was no coffee in the rooms as they had run out. the bathroom was very large and recently modernized. The included breakfast consisted of fruit and pastries... More

Older, quaint atmosphere. Convenient to Union Square and bus lines. Very clean, neat and in great condition. We had a suite which gave us a lot of room for two couples and it was great to have the full kitchen facilities. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Others have mentioned the noise, but we did not notice any exceptional noise for... More

Rooms are in desperate need of some TLC. Bed was the worst I have ever slept on, old and small box TV, no flat screens in sight. The bath tub never drained properly so you would be standing in horrible grime. To top it all of the rooms are terribly noisy from outside traffic and neighbours slamming the doors to... More
