Flew on from the UK to stay 2 nights before starting a tour down to Las Vegas. Excellent central location, although a little noisy at night as we had the window open. Room as small with no view at all but reflects the age and charm of the building. There was no hairdryer but were given on at reception. Our... More

Stayed 2 nights in a junior suite nice big room and good bathroom, both slightly dated but clean with loads of extras whirlpool bath kitchen area etc. loved the early evening soirée in the lobby 4-6pm drinks and nibbles, really good to meet other guests and share SF days and trips. Good base, friendly and helpful staff, the area is... More

We were lucky to get a booking as 135th attending a sales conference. Hotel comfortable. May be a 3.5 rating as not air con or tea/coffee making facilities in rooms. Staff nice and helpful however and breakfasts excellent. Didn't do the wine & cheese in evening but looked well attended. Yes we would go back there but avoid mid summer.

We stayed here twice. Once when we arrived in SF and once before we left and I have to almost write 2 different reviews. Firstly, this hotel must have been very lovely and elegant in its heyday. it appeared to have been updated and was very clean. 1. On our first stay....because of the TA reviews, , we had asked... we didn't want to stay in a regular hotel so I searched for something old and quaint but still modern. This really met everything I wanted. Staff were very nice gave us a lot of help finding good places to eat and best ways to get around town. Our room was outstanding with a separate kitchenette, spa bath & a... More

This was a great little find, in the heart of san Francisco and while a bit dated the bed was good and we loved the breakfasts and wine and cheese in the afternoon. The front desk service was variable but we Would stay here again.

Affordable and friendly place if not the most modern. Nice touches - basic breakfast included and wine and cheese hour (2 hours) in the evening make a difference to counter the slightly worn out feel of the place. Staff very helpful in getting us to the airport when we needed to leave. Rooms a bit dark, but if you plan... More

The only problem for us is the noise from the street . Fire engines and ambulances crossing the junction almost every hour in the night with loud horns , street works and nearby renovations start early in the morning 6-7 am. You cannot fully shut the windows to reduce the noise as there is no aircon, only fan provided. If... More

Clean, tidy and a reasonable cost for a family of 3 visiting San Francisco for 3 nights . Easy walking distance to Union Square (and the cable car stop). Plenty of "city noises" (we had to sleep with the windows open due to un seasonally hot weather and no air con) 24/7 and we didn't venture out after dark!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Buffet... More

I booked this place based on the fact that most chains were charging upwards of $550 a night due to there being an Oracle conference in town. (This was $300!). Located about a 5 min walk from Union Square the location is convenient. You walk into the hotel and yes, the detail on the ceilings is stunning, but the musty... More
