This is the second visit to this Hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, rooms comfortable, ( no air....but not a problem in October when we were there) There are several great eateries nearby , we loved the Thai food 2 doors down,..just a short walk to the tram , bus stop nearby , and in the middle of the shopping... No amenities, it is old, with spring like beds and tube TV's, but it was clean and close to shopping, restaurants and where we needed to be. Service was great at the front desk. Served our purpose well,

This is a great hotel is you are a good sleeper. It is only a block from the Union Square Plaza where many of the bus trips starts/drop off in the city (as alternative to Fisshermanns Wharf). Small restaurants next to the know fast food place, also plenty of options of breakfast restaurants in the the closer area. Chnatown in... More

About 2 blocks from Union Square in one of those areas that are borderline good area. By day, it is a normal street but at night, it is a place for rowdies and panhandlers. The hotel itself is fine. Good service, clean rooms with great beds! The room is small and the bathroom is so small the the sink doesn't... More

I booked this hotel using an online booking system and believed when I was booking it was a 3 star though later found out its only 2 star. We stayed here for 4 nights and found the location perfect for just about everywhere. The hotel is an older building with European sized rooms and older furniture. The room we stayed... More

This week , I stayed at the Union Square Plaza Hotel, now the second time. Outstanding locatioon at a very reasonable price for any bigger city, especially for San Francisco. The staff was very helpful and the room was clean. It is in the historic part of SFO and naturally an older building. They neighborhood is very safe. I will... More

Advantages: Nice service Great location Clean Disadvantages: Old, very small rooms Disgusting smell No air, tried opening the windows, but the building next to us that I could touch from the window wouldn't let any air in. At least they gave me a fan Forget about wifi Can't even get coffee in the morning Very loud

Horrible internet connection, no coffee, no breakfast, no freezer in the room, no light in the room, too much noise at night, attendants were not nice (they seem to be there by obligation). Only the cleanser was fine and friendly. Too much money for a simple bed.

When I originally called to schedule I should have known this place wasn't good as the person on the phone wasn't very helpful and told me he didn't have any information on airport shuttles but when I got there I noticed a large sign posted in the entranceway. I think he was just basically unkind. Later other desk clerks we... More

We found exactly what we asked for a two night trip to SF..Cheap choice but downtown. Room is below average and seems a bit old, but we didnt spent lot of time in the room. However location is the "star" for this hotel.
