Feb 13 - Stayed one night only, i booked not expecting too much and i was ok. Bed, cleaning, bathroom, everything ok, don´t expect too much, it´s old but conserved. It was on Feb, cold but the room was warm. SF don´t have much options for nice and not expensive hotels. Parking is too expensive, so go with insurance car... More

Dreadful experience. They LOVE money. Before any niceties of greetings are exchanged, the phrase, 'where is your credit card' comes out of the receptionist's mouth first. The bedroom is OK but you have to be prepared to be constantly woken up by the noise outside and the sex screams in the nearby bedroom. As for the Bathroom, its a joke.... More

My brother and I are backpacking throughout the west coast and stayed here for a couple of nights. The hotel staff isn't very friendly, the bathroom doesn't have amenities except for 1 little shampoo, and we had to wait about 45min to get our car (they ask us to give them 30min). Other than that, the hotel room is very... More

The stay at this hotel was okay. No problems, room was clean, receptionists were kind, smiling and coffee in the lobby was quite good. Free WiFi. Everything good disappeared once we left the hotel. The location is just terrible and I didn't feel safe. All around the hotel are lying homeless people, people without hands, eyes or legs, sleeping basically... More

Not a bad hotel if you are looking for value stay. Here are my quick comments: 1- about 10 - 15 minutes from Union square, which is happening and big shopping area. 2- the service is good, nice people. 3- No valet, parking is about $38. 4- Elevator very slow and can be a while to get to your room.... This is a well managed, clean hotel with nice enough rooms and a great cleaning staff. Just don't expect to do a lot of walking from your hotel after dark or to be able to leave your windows open at night. We heard people yellow/fighting in the street all night and a lot of dog fighting. I walked to and... More

almost everything was bad -- hot room without air-conditioner, worn-down facility, old and thin towels (and one with stains), dirty-looking carpet, hair on the beddings. The only good things were helpful staff and fast wifi. Surrounding neighborhood was not great, although walking distance to Union Square.

We arrived in San Francisco on the Friday, did some sight seeing, bought souvenirs, We eventually got to the hotel around 9pm, we parked on the street just minutes away from the hotel, there were a few homeless people in the streets and didn't think too much of it, Next morning we went to our rental vehicle only to see... I'm really not that picky when it comes to hotels, but this was even below my standards...we stayed at a very simple motel the night before (motel 6) and even that was 10 times nicer and cleaner than the Monarch. Our room smelled like the rest of the neighbourhood - pee. The floors werr very unclean and it was so... More
