We booked the Monarch Hotel at the last moment after our previously booked accommodation in San Francisco was cancelled at the last minute. WHAT A MISTAKE! The hotel is located in the Tenderloin area of SF. Although it looks very close to many of the tourist spots, this part of Geary Street is heavily populated by homeless people, who are... More

My advice is to stay in another hotel in another area i SF. The room smelled like pee and the neighborhood did not feel safe at night. Book in another area instead! If you absolutely want to stay in this crappy hotel, and you need parking - do not buy it from the hotel - it is very expensive and... More

Stayed in this hotel from the 10th of July to the 15th. Reading other reviews of this hotel I was unsure what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised. On arrival, yes it did appear to be in a dodgy area with a lot of homeless people around, but San Fransisco is full of homeless people, so you will encounter... More

I am having to have my tru c k painted because the valet service company scratched it all up. Probably trying to fit it where it wouldn't. I feel that they should have been on the up and up and told me that they wouldn't be able to accommodate my vehicle and give me some other choices of where to... More

This place is ok if you're just looking for a place to hang your hat for a brief stay. The rooms are decent and clean, no A/C but not necessary because it's always cool here if not straight up cold. They have no kitchen so no breakfast, no room service. The staff is friendly and the room is well maintained.... More

If you just look for a budget and tend to use the hotel room just for sleep at the night - then it might be a good choice. The hotel is old, but clean, some smell of old wood in the rooms, but nothing too bad. The service is OK. The real problem here is the neighbourhood. Try to avoid... More

Two of us were allocated Room 205 as we had asked for a quiet room. It was quiet all right. Room was old and we had problems adjustg water temperature and shower. But other than that, room was ok, I did not have bed bug problems. The hotel entrance has a few steps and the door has to be held... More

If your interested in the nightlife this hotel is right in the action. If not, then ypu might want to look some places else. The street is full of crack heads and homeless people because there is a community center next to it. The parking was terrible. The guy in the front desk didnt speak much english. The rooms where... My friends and I stayed in this hotel 3 nights. The hotel is clean even if quite old. Rooms are not so big and the beds are terribly soft. However, receptionist were all kind, free wi-fi connection was available and the position is perfect for visiting San Francisco (day and night)!

My husband and I went on a roadtrip for my birthday and we stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. I was a little skeptical about this hotel and it's rate of $89 but I was surprised to find a very clean room, clean bathroom, cozy bed and fairly new appliances. The Tv, however looked brand new and has a... More
