Central location . Basic and clean rooms. Had a shared shower and toilet with the rest of the floor. Was okay but could have done with a mirror in the shower cubicle in order to shave. Good value for location . San Francisco is expensive. Very convenient for shops. Macy is nearby.

The staff is limited to a single person at most times. The rooms are clean but quite small. The bathroom is so small that the sink is in your room. The rooms are not carpeted and the walls are very thin. It is noisy. The only real plus is its location 1 block from Union Square.

We are sorry to hear about the discrepancies you experienced during your stay at the Herbert Hotel. We are a fairly small property and staff our property accordingly. Our Economy rooms are sold at a reduced rate compared to our standard and deluxe rooms and are smaller rooms with just the necessities provided, including a shared-hallway bathroom. The location of... More

A friend and i stayed at the Herbert recently, the location is great being right on Powell St which is a very lively street and is also located very near the Powell St train station which makes getting to/from the airport a breeze. We stayed in a Deluxe Room, do be careful as some of the lower grade rooms will... More

The Herbert Hotel is a practical hotel with character that offers good accommodations at a reasonable price. The hotel is located on Powell Street with trolly right outside the front door. We booked the family suite which offers one room with a queen bed and another room with two twins and a shared bathroom in between. It was perfect for... More

Considering the price we paid for this hotel, I really couldn't fault it. As previous reviewers have stated, this is a simple and basic hotel. I happened to stumble across this accomdation when researching where to stay during the very busy week of when the Dreamworks Conference was in town (120,000 people attended this conference and all the hotels get... Booked this hotel for a conference in october. Stayed here for a week. Nice little hotel. Wifi is OK sometimes a bit slow but it works. It has spacious rooms and is clean. Water pressure in the shower could be better though. Best thing about the hotel is the great location!!

The hotel is very simple, so don't expect something spectacular. They don't provide a lot of service, no bathroom supplies, etc., but the rooms are clean and quiet. For that price that is totally fair. And the location is really good, right next to Union square.

I stayed at the hotel from Oct28-Oct31,2014. Someone took our backpack and they reviewed the camera and can't do anything. No offer for what we lost. I have traveled a lot but never got into this situation. We got no help and no one called give us for an update from the hotel. No responsibility from Herbert hotel. Our backpack... More

This is a small hotel, but it is very close to Market Street, the metro station is a few steps away! The rooms are small but modern, clean and comfortable! I thought that because of its location it would be noisy but not at all! Definitely a really nice choice!

I stayed at the Herbert for a few days during my business trip to San Francisco. I had a room with bathroom and I had a great time. First of all, the location is fantastic as I was able to walk to most of my meetings downtown and to take the muni to everywhere else. It also has some great... More
