If this was only about the hotel, it would get 3 stars - clean, bright and comfortable room with all the ameneties (TV , free internet, hot showers ), and of course, you must also like the art-deco look. No A/C but being winter had a water heater. But seriously consider where the hotel is located and being on the... More

We checked into this hotel with some apprehension after having read the reviews, but it turned out to be quite good. Rooms were spacious and clean, wifi worked better than in most places, staff were friendly and also there when a taxi needed to be called. The neighborhood is OK, but the blocks between this hotel and Union Square are... More

Having stayed in various, similarly-priced hotels nearby in San Francisco, I didn't expect the mediocre presentation and facilities here. The website boasts a "private bath with shower in every room", which must have excluded our room. No information given to us about the free continental breakfast; in fact, no guest directory in the room to tell us anything about the... More

This hotel is quite opposite to some of the reviews I read on this page and I was really surprised when I arrived. It's clean, in a central location. The beds and towels were changed every day, there is free wifi, free continental breakfast and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. The area isn't the best place to stay... More

On arriving in San Francisco we travelled from Union square to the embassy hotel! This trip was eye opening as it went from a lovely clean pleasant area into streets filled with drug dealers and homeless folk. When going into the hotel the smell of smoke was overpowering but it only took a few mins to get used to it.... More

Late booking so we were limited with our options - we took this one ! Hotel is older but kinda quaint in it's appeal - I'm thinking it might have been quite nice back in it's glory days - those have probably now passed and is perhaps now more reminiscent of where a released Alcatraz resident might spend his first... This place was a total nightmare. No locks on the door, bathroom was nasty, mattress was stained and had signs of bed bugs not to mention no screens on the window. If I could post pictures I would. Stayed there 7/27/14 over night and couldn't wait to leave.

This place is disgusting. I don't think they care that the lobby smells like sewage. We stayed for three hours just to spend time finding a different place to stay. No air filtration in any rooms. The bathrooms are worse than any gas station I've ever been to. Not worth 200 dollars

Let me preface my review by saying that the Embassy Hotel is obviously not the Four Seasons. However, for the price I paid ($120-ish), I thought I got a good value. The room I was in was partially renovated--the main area was new, with modern furnishings and a functioning flat-screen TV, while the bathroom was circa 1930. But everything worked... More

I found Embassy Hotel to be an average hotel to stay. while Rooms are fine but you feel like to be in a box when you enter inside the hotel. breakfast quality was of lowest standard. It looks like the hotel is just being run without much care. People at reception are really nice and helpful.
