pay a few dollars more and stay at the Fairmont or Mark Hopkins.(both next door). This hotel caters to flight crews from SFO on layover. The concierge service was unprofessional. Room accommodations were dismissed even when booked months ahead.. The only quality service was provided by the valets who were efficient and polite..

I've stayed several times at the Stanford over the last 3 months while in town on business and I keep going back because it's great. Steve at the front desk is super sweet and really knowledgable about the city. He was very helpful when I had booking issues, which was much appreciated in the rush of a business trip. Evening... This hotel has been remodeled since I stayed there a couple of years ago. It's very hip and techno modern with computers available in lobby, etc. The staff is very helpful and friendly, especially Omar and Paul at the concierge desk. By the way, Omar also helped with a computer glitch! Our room was bright, roomy and best of all,... More

the hotel has really lost its way since being spun off from Marriot. There was no food in the room. No mini bar, and not even complimentary coffee. There weren't enough towels in the room. It felt like the housekeeping stocked it like a roadside motel with exactly one washcloth and one towel. A total disappointment other than the location.

I liked the location of this hotel, the beds were comfortable and the room Was so clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay here again. The breakfast is underwhelming and I did not opt to eat there

My room was clean and nicely presented. The staff were very friendly and the concierge friendly and very helpful. The hotel is situated near the centre of the city making it very easy to visit shops and walk to local attractions. Overall a very nice place to stay in a brilliant location.

Staff was excellent! Everyone from the bellman to the maid was kind, conscientious and helpful! Herman and Omar were particulary helpful and friendly! Food was avg at best. Location is very good, but it is at the top of the hill ! Lots of uphill walking, but it's at a 4 way cable car stop so it's not difficult to get... More

I always stay at this hotel when on business. The customer service is consistently attentive; smiley, welcoming bellmen & concierge, efficient & friendly receptionists, bar tending staff are warm without being intrusive.. The standard rooms are smallish but have superior amenities, adequate sized bathrooms and comfortable beds. It is literally placed in the middle of the city centre and you... More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on our honeymoon for one night while we were traveling the west coast. We got a little frustrated trying to find the hotel due because its entrance was in the valet are under the hotel and the building sort of blended in with the rest of the area. I would recommend a... Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
