What a find! Lovely rooms and brilliant staff. Only about 15/20min walk from the main city square. Otherwise 1 min walk from their underground. Shared bathroom was not an issue at all. All very clean! Even get a continental breakfast and fresh coffee available all done. Highly recommend this place!!!

Bit apprehensive before coming here, not a fan of shared bathrooms. Needn't have worried. Had to lug cases up the stairs - not a problem for me but others may struggle. Greeted by 'Wes' the manager - what a lovely, friendly chap. Helpful throughout our stay, always very pleasant. In fact the whole team at 1906 are incredibly friendly and... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at Nineteen 06 Mission! We are happy to hear the shared bathrooms although a concern, turned out to not to be a problem for you. We do apologize for the noise in the morning from being in the room near reception. We try to avoid assigning that room... More

We stayed here for a week in October and absolutely loved it. The staff were so lovely and welcoming and made us feel right at home. We were pretty apprehensive about sharing a bathroom but it was not an issue at all. In 7 days I had to wait for a shower once, and my friend never waited. Everything was... More

Centrally located. Very friendly staff. Very clean rooms. Though reluctant at first to the shared bathroom concept,,i have to admit those were maintained to perfection. Excellent breakfast, limited choice but all organic fresh and with limited waste.

What can we say about a review titled "Perfect" other than thank you for that perfect review! We work very hard to make sure the shared bathrooms are not an issue for our guests, and glad you found them well maintained. Thanks very much for your review. More

Incredibly lovely, helpful, and welcoming staff. There's a drawer left unlocked at the front desk where you can help yourself to any necessities you forgot to pack (or couldn't bring through security in your carry-on). Showers and toilets are shared, but this was never an issue. During my 1 week stay, I only had to wait for a shower once.... More

Thank you for your wonderful review! We are thrilled to see all the little touches (the fruit infused water, the daily activity board, the toiletries available to guests) mentioned and glad you enjoyed your visit. The Mission is one of the oldest neighborhoods in SF, and as you said, it is a safe area, even if sometimes a little rough... More

Apart from the problem of thin walls and noisy neighbors. I didn't know that you can ride the BART (subway) across the bay to SF (for about $5). Hotels are so expensive in SF that I stayed in this hostel, but it has no advantages that I can think of over staying in Oakland. For the same price as a... More

I cannot really describe what this place and the staff now mean to me. Both of them are the difference between the words "travel" and "life experience". I'm not going to get into detail because I miss 1906 Mission too much - just take my advice and book a room NOW.

My best friend and I had the opportunity to stay at this lovely B&B for one night. We had a evening flight into the city, and while we were waiting for our bags, the porperty manager Wesley called us to see if we were still coming as we were the last people to check in. I informed him that we... More

You could very easily walk right by this place and not know if was there - the mechanic's on the corner is a great landmark and they pointed this out in the directions they sent to me. We really enjoyed our stay here. Our room was very comfortable and the shared bathrooms were spotless - I never had to wait... More

A very affordable option for a stay in the Mission District if you are prepared for the simple accommodations. Rooms are very small and do not include private toilet, bath, or even a lavatory. Each floor has two shower rooms and two small WCs. Guests are responsible enough to keep the facilities clean during the day. Located on the second... More

Staying in Mission District

Neighborhood Profile
Mission District
From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighborhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners. Indulge as the locals do by heading to Mission Dolores Park, buy some ice cream, and savor one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country.
