Not the cheapest, but very low standard. Dirty bedsheets and smelly room. We bought a scented candle to get rid of the nasty smell. We didn't dare to use the showers. Find another place if you're able.

Not only was the room at Knights Inn San Francisco very expensive, the walls were so thin I could hardly sleep because of all the noise. There is also a total lack of assistance from staff. I have been writing to the staff for weeks in order to receive an electronic copy of my receipt, but have thus far not... More

I booked a room for 7 nights accepting that this was a budget motel in an expensive city however for nearly $2,000 I was astounded at the state of the room. There were food scraps, cotton buds and long black hairs throughout the room. There were very few power outlets so when I searched for extras behind the bed I... More

The hotel was one of the cheapest in the area--roughly $100/night, compared to the $185 almost all the other hotels were charging for the nights I was looking at. The room itself was actually pretty decent, with a working AC unit and reasonably clean demeanor. It also had a larger-than-usual mini-fridge, which actually fit some take-out containers, so that was... More

We got stranded in San Francisco, late, after the Motel we originally booked into turned out to be a dump (and im not picky!) the guy (whos name evades me) was very friendly and welcoming, bit quirky, but nice. the room was lovely and close to local amenities. We had a car but was easier getting the bus, which is... More

Although they advertised that the rooms were recently redone it's not like they were all redone. Our room had a coat of paint and some minor upgrades - but they neglected to freshen up the toilet seat or paint any of the trim. Just seemed odd. One mattress was newer than the other so that's the one we picked to... More

This motel was just where I wanted to stay in San Fran and, for this city, was a reasonable price. On check-in, I received excellent service and the manager even showed me to the room and explained how to operate the shower (which is not at all obvious). Car parking was easy. The room was not large but it had... More

The room is totally inadequate. It is tiny, dirty, mold on shower curtain, infrequent air conditioning. Parking and front office staff fine and friendly. Would NOT recommend this hotel on any level. Previous reviews (upon which our stay was predicated) very misleading. Very noisy with windows open (because of infrequent air conditioning). Room temperature daily @ 74 degrees, while set... More

We often stay in the Chestnut Street area and have tried many(5) of the small motels. The family that runs the Knights Inn are especially nice and helpful. The AC works, so that the window can be closed at night as Knights Inn is on a busy street. This makes the room quieter than most. Also, the situation of the... More

The Knights Inn is clean, not expensive and well located. Among the pros : free parking, bath, kitchen.... It was a very good surprise and the owner was also really nice. He gave us useful insights on the city, buses.... I'll come back for sure and would recommend it to everyone

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
