I needed a place to stay on a short notice and so I booked this online without much time to research. Also I had never been in San Fran before so no clue about which place to look for. This hotel is very central but in one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in San Fran, Tenderloin, avoid it!!! I was... More

On the description, it is said that there's an elevator. Yes there is one, but from the 2nd floor!!! You have to climb really steep stairs to go ask the front desk to help with luggage. They then unblock the elevator to ground floor. Not very customer oriented if you ask me. They checked us into a room that was... More

Come on, who's complaining about shared bathrooms? Yes, the toilets and showers are shared. Stop being spoiled American tourists. San Francisco's an American city, so you're lucky these affordable holes-in-the-wall haven't been ripped out and replaced by box hotels. The location is perfect, the rooms are clean and quiet, and the cost is cheaper than most meals in San Francisco.

This hotel is 5 mins walk from The Bart Train Station that goes to both airports that serve the city and is very easy to find and bang in the city centre. It does border an area that has a lot of homeless people some who obvously have mental health problems but we stayed as a couple and never got... More

Me and my friend have stayed 4 nights in Winsor at the end of August. You exactly get what you pay for. We were satisfied with our room, it was on the 3rd floor a big, clean room. You could get cleaning service in the room every day if you would like to, its up to you how to request... More

Stayed here for one night and was glad to leave. Like all the other reviews there's homeless people everywhere in this area. Not the harmless ones that just beg for money. 99% are drug addicts shouting at themselves roaming the streets at night. I was petrified, especially carrying all our stuff with us to find this hotel. It's a shame... More

The place is really bad, lots of homeless people in front of the hotel, kind of scary. The room is really bad too, the curtains are just teared tissue clipped to the wall, you can't even close it (see pictures).

I did grow to like this place. The streets outside are intense, during the day it's sketchy but at night time is is very dodgy. If you can cope with this then it's quite a good location for the Bart and centre of San Fran. Facilities are basic but adequate. It isn't cheap for places around the world but apparently... More

We were a couple and needed just a one night stay in SF. We took this hotel as it was cheap and central. Although the hotel is just a street or two away from the nice parts of the city, Winsor is on a very rough street and leads into a bad area. Several unsavoury characters found on the street... More

It was an outdated hotel just on the fringe of very good & bad neighborhood. However, it was very clean and we did not have any incident. Hotel staff were very nice & accomodating. I'll stay here again if I visit San Francisco. Excellen price.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
