Bar is very crowded in the evening. In the morning sit by the window if you want to read. I would stay here again because of the proximity to the farmer's market at the Ferry Building, which outside of Paris is one of the best that I have ever visited.

It's been 3 years since we stayed. We reserved a superior water view. The room was on the second floor directly over the clear plastic tent that covers the restaurant patio in winter. The tent effectively blocked any view. In addition, we were so close to the patio I could identify the food items on the plates of those dining... More

This hotel is on Mission down near the Ferry Wharf, home of farmer's markets. It is almost on the Embarcadero Bart station, which is handy, and right across from one of the best restaurants in the world - the Boulevard ($$$$$$$ See my other review) It was right across the street from the office I was visiting, and my wife... The room’s size was ample and beyond my expectations. I was treated like a valued guest. The staff built rapport, and interactions did not feel transactional. The uniqueness was not in the service, but in the hotel decor. I was continually delighted by the design touches throughout the hotel. The matching check presenter to the metal art at the restaurant... More

This was my first time at the Hotel Vitale. I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff a check-in, and the room was very clean and comfortable. Free coffee starting at 4 AM for the east coast crowd, a nice touch. Room service was fast, friendly, and the food was surprisingly good! On the downside, the fitness room is... More

Stayed a single night on a "in and out" trip to San Fran - right off the Embarcadero waterfront, close to lots of nice spots. The room (got a "free upgrade" to a king bed when the desk clerk notices I was 6'4"..) was very spacious, comfortable and appropriately swanky - CD's of "custom" music for the hotel a la... More

My hubby and I spent our Anniversary here last year. The Hotel is Beautiful, and in the BEST location, right across the street from the Ferry Building, so if you don't want to eat in-house (which I highly recommend), you can go and grab a bite. The rooms were a bit small for the price, but they were very nice.... More

I only have great memories of my stay at Hotel Vitale. Every member of the staff that I interacted with was friendly and helpful. They did whatever they could to make my stay comfortable. Any meals I had there were tasty. Meals in the dining room or through room service were delivered quickly. My room was clean and the bed... More

We love staying at this hotel. Close to the Embarcadero, trolley cars, Pier 39. Great Mexican food right across the street. Has the best guacamole I have ever had. Get a room with a view of the Bay Bridge and watch the light show of the bridge at night. Beautiful!. Valet parking is costly but probably the norm for San... More

On the surface, this is a very nice hotel, with a modern look. The staff is mostly very friendly and accommodating although a couple of the front desk personnel are chilly. The décor of the room we stayed in was beige and brown and more beige with a nice touch of aqua thrown in which helped. The bed was too... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
