Hotel fine. Facilities lovely. Location terrific. Service hovering between laughable and abominable. I left laundry to be done on four hour service before taking a redeye. I was assured repeatedly by the front desk staff that this would be fine, that the laundry would be back by 5, and that they would, "personally see to it". At 8 p.m when... More

We traveled with a baby. Staff were very friendly but service was inconsistent. We had to ask 4 times for a crib. The rooms are nice but not amazing. They have garden roof decks which are cool. The restaurant downstairs is very happening - we never went though given we have a baby. This hotel has an amazing location at... More

I stayed for 3 nights for business and was very pleased with my stay. The location is fantastic—right of the Embarcadero. You are a short walk from the financial district, the water, and numerous restaurants and bars, and a medium walk from the typical tourist attractions. Literally the entire staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. I didn’t meet one... More

My husband and I signed up for a cooking class in SF. I decided to make a weekend of it and booked a King city view room at the Hotel Vitale. The valet was very easy the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We had drinks at appetizers at Americano.. the bar in the lobby and enjoyed that too. I liked... More

Hotel Vitale is perfectly located for food lovers who want to be as close as possible to the San Francisco ferry terminal and farmer's market. It was great getting up early in the morning and grabbing coffee and breakfast at Blue Bottle, Acme Bakery and other stands before the crowds arrived. The hotel itself is nice, modern, clean and functional.... More

It's been about 3 years since we stayed at Vitale, and after we checked in, we were really glad to be back. The rooms are in excellent shape, and what's really good for us is that no matter which room we get, it works for Cindi's wheelchair. The doors to the bathrooms are pocket doors so they are always wide... More

Since we frequently visit San Francisco we have stayed in most of the areas, especially SOMA and Union Square. We had discussed staying along the Embarcadero but never did until this visit. We heard a lot about the Hotel Vitale and the reviews are overall pretty good, however, between the cost and the “urban retreat fee” we never stayed there.... More

We booked here on a recommendation from a friend and weren't disappointed. Very handy to union square, over the road from the ferry building. Not too noisy considering it is on a busy road. The only odd thing was there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Very spacious rooms great shower comfy bed we paid extra... More

This was perfectl to walk to the ball park and have the best view of the bay. The room was decent and the bed was comfy best of all was the view. There were nice places close to walk for nightlife and hotel lounge was good too. I definitly would stay again if i could get another great deal.

Stayed a couple of times recently. Given some of the rates the Vitale often commands, you should expect something close to a 5-star experience and whilst it is lovely in many ways, it just lacks in a few key areas to warrant giving it the full 5. On the plus: location, views (if you’re lucky to be facing the water/Bay... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
