I can't remember if I've already reviewed this hotel, but I will anyway. I've stayed here twice now, and I really cannot fault this place, from the quirkiness, decor, down to the old fashioned bathroom fittings, it's a very welcoming place to lay your head after a weary trip. Beds are very comfortable and rooms come well equipped with cutlery,... More

Excellent hotel for anyone who wants to be in the heart of the City near to a lot of activities. You are in the heart of the hilliest part of SF so be prepared to climb or plan for cab fare. Clean, spacious, nicely decorated rooms with kitchenette. Excellent prices for S.F. Rooms actually have walk in closets! Continental breakfast... More

The Mayflower is an older hotel located 3 blocks off Powells Street (where the cable cars run.) We had the upgraded “view” room appointed with antique dressers, a large closet, tub and shower, and a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, sink, dishes and flatware. While I question the use of “view” (there was a view of the hills if you look... More

Nice place to crash and enjoy the city! It was a great location to walk around. If you're fit, it's a 20 min walk to Lombard, Coit, the pier and 35 min to the ballpark! The room itself is basic, do not expect much. It's a beautiful old building. Our room had a minifridge, microwave, dishes and silverware, flat screen... More

This place is in the right place if you are going to conferences in the larger, expensive, noisey places that hold the meetings. This hotel is a short couple of blocks away (down and then back up hill). Its nice, its old and with a history, remoded, wireless, all that you would have at places twice as much.

I brought a large group of college students from the east coast to San Francisco and we used the Hotel Mayflower. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We put three to a room. The staff was wonderfully helpful and polite. The location was very close to Union Square and cable cars. The hotel is sandwiched between great restaurants and... More

Clean, comfortable, full of character. Quiet hotel just on edge of touristy areas. Great breakfast-boiled eggs, toast, peanut butter, good coffee, apples, home made muffins. The staff at the front desk super nice.Great relaxed energy here. It's not a chain hotel and that's a plus!! Stayed for 4 nights with teenage son. Perfect.

I read the reviews on here and decided to email the hotel to see if they had a room available. It was my husband and two sons with me. They emailed quickly and offered two different room types and the price. We didn't have to hold the room with a credit card, just reserve it via email with your information.... More

I did a lot of searching for a hotel within a good location and that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Also kid friendly. This had them all. A short 10 min walk up Powell from Union Square, very friendly helpfull staff willing to share their knowledge and recommendations and clean rooms with a little fridge and microwave which... More

If arriving by airport, take the BART train to Powell Stn for $8.65, then it is about a 10-12 min walk (about 8-9 blocks) with only one block being fairly steep. The station is in the Union Square area with lots of shops and restaurants, so fairly safe walk. At first I thought the hotel was a bit out of... More
