We stayed here as members of a reciprocal club, and knew pretty much what to expect: A beautiful old building that has not been refurbished as one would expect with pricier places. We love those sorts of place, as we abhor generic, bland decor and shoe-box hotel rooms with windows that won't open and air conditioning that keeps the temperature... More

UCSF is a delightful club in the nob hill area of SF. With the cable car right out front it's easy to get around. The room was homely and comfortable but the real value is the 4th floor bar and restaurant where we mingled with members and bar staff. This club admits both male and female members. The food is... I have stayed here twice as a reciprocal club member for under $200 pretty night before taxes. This is an unbeatable price for Nob Hill. The rooms are fine but not fancy. The halls and many public spaces are showing wear. The continental breakfast is basic. The fourth floor bar area and the view from there are fun. It has... More

I stayed here with a group of friends and we loved it. Besides the very large rooms, the bar and food were wonderful. We never felt rushed, everyone was very accommodating and the food was very good. In the past I have stayed in a regular room, this time I got a suite. The difference was night and day. For... More

We were here for a wedding in June 2014. It is a woody old venue with an atmosphere of the 40's and perhaps before. The staff was friendly and the bar was pleasant. The view of the Financial District from the top floor is interesting but nothing to compare with a view of the bay. The food was decent but... More

Unfortunately our stay here was one to remember....not for good reasons. Upon arrival we found our room unclean with basic supplies not available. Used unmentionables were found in the nightstand drawers from the previous occupants. The shower had mold surrounding the base. The towels were spotted. The furnishings are old and worn which made one reluctant to sit and be... More

I stayed here as a member of a reciprocal club. The location can't be beaten and the club has a really friendly feel, just like my club back home. The restaurant and bar on the 4th floor are excellent, the food was superb and the staff mix some good cocktails

We stayed here for two nights as affiliate-club members. We had a suite, which we liked a lot although the bathroom could use a little table for toiletries and more towels. The check in staff were generally nice although didn't offer common courtesy assistance like helping with the door for guests struggling with multiple bags. Breakfast was fine although the... More

We have stayed at the club before and will probably stay there again, but it is not for everyone. On the positive side the club is very laid back, and the rooms are a taste of old SF. In a sense this is also the negative. If you are looking for a very modern hotel with state of the art... More

We stayed here in a one bedroom queen suite for 3 nights during a very busy May weekend under reciprocal club arrangement. The rooms were clean. The bathroom plumbing needs updating and there is no ventilation. Continental breakfast was good and it included free membership to the fitness/ squash courts. Location is superb as the service.Lots of memorabilia!

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighborhood decorated with colorful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighborhood.
