Stayed at the Metro Hotel when needing a place to sleep after a night at a nearby music venue. The Metro was perfect. The room was small but very clean and had everything we needed for a good nights sleep. We didn't have a view per say but that helped keep the room quiet. I would and actually are already... More

We had an overnight stay at the Metro and were very impressed with the updated comfortable room. Everything was super clean and you can't beat the price. Even though our room was in front over the street and a bit noisy (hey it's the city) I would stay in the same room next time. The staff at the desk was... More

Stayed here for two nights in August 2015. Booked on the basis of good reviews and cheap prices and we weren't disappointed. We had a twin room with two, comfortable, double beds and a small but clean bathroom. Hotel staff were friendly and answered all our questions. The area itself is great, lots of great places to eat and drink... More

Super clean and quiet hotel. Friendly staff that knows the area and city, and they offer up fantastic suggestions for transportation, shopping, sightseeing and restaurants. Super convenient for all modes of transportation in the city and to the airport.

I cannot see how the hotel got all the good reviews and to be honest I begin to doubt TripAdvisor ratings with this hotel. The hotel gave me a bad feeling from the start with the lobby that looked a lot like from a cheap hostel. But that and the fact that the hotel has no elevator was not the... More

Our room was on the smaller side but it served the purpose of having a place to stay in San Francisco that is near public transportation and very affordable. We bought a multi-day MUNI pass and going around was a breeze. The Metro Hotel is very near MUNI stations. Its also walking distance to restaurants, bars and parks. We enjoyed... More

Prices are great. But You do get what you pay for. Rooms are very small, but if you don't mind that its perfectly fine. There is no AC so if you go in the summer and its hot get ready for a very warm room. Hotel staff is extremely friendly and was super helpful and was very understanding and allowed... More

We spent 3 nights at the Metro hotel: very well situated in SFO, our room a little bit dark but absolutely quiet, very clean. Only a boiler and some coffee/ tea is missing. Bid TV screen. Restaurants and dinners all around the area, buses to everywhere. Definitely a good choice if you want to have a good quality price ratio

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighborhood Profile
Haight-Ashbury
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighborhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
