We needed a place close to lake merced. Although there was another motel to consider the nostalgic charm of this place appealed to me. We only stayed one night. The check in process was very pleasant. The nicest people seem to be working at the front desk. They are very knowledgeable about the area, the history, where to eat etc.... More

We visited back in May over Memorial Day weekend. Even though we booked a bit short notice due to a family event, they were able to work out the best accommodations for us. For the first night, we managed to fit four adults and a toddler in one of their comfortable two bedroom rooms. It was a bit of a... More

This is the first time we stayed Ocean Park Motel. I remember motels like this one, when I was a boy in the 50's. This one had all the looks of nostalgia. We needed a place near Irish Cultural Club, so we didn't have to drive. Parking is limited, but management will assist you when you arrive.

Born & raised in Sunset District in SF & when I am in town overnight I stay at the Beach. Close to many venues, Zoo, Beach, Golden Gate Park and more Many choices and I prefer staying at Ocean Park! Give it a try unless your in to high parking prices and traffic jams downtown! Love it, jg

Had room #17 (1Q, 1TW) No complaints about room size, in fact the bathroom was roomy and had a little vanity/bench built in. There is a nice cafe close by, 2 minute walk, as well as a deli/liquor store that appeared to have a great menu of sandwichs. I dinged one star cause the smell of the room reminded me... More

We were looking for affordable, calm, and comfortable. We got the bonus of a beautiful, historical property near the beach. This place has really has character. It's a motel, not a high-rise hotel with a concierge and someone at the desk 24-7... so know what to expect. If you're looking for a place to stay "where the action is"... go... More

You get a glimpse into the past since this motel was opened in 1937.The central courtyard is lush with grass and vibrant blooms. The ocean is two blocks away and there is plenty of public transportation so you don't need to drive into the city. The rooms are on the small side but clean and comfortable. This was my second... We have stayed here before and have reviewed Ocean Park Motel previously. But our most recent stay made me want to add a few things. Especially after reading some of the negative comments. People, the history of this place is amazing, and it is a little oasis for travelers. Complaints about Muni noise are amusing - if you are posting... More

Ok. Yes this is very retro. But no, it is not charming. this is a dump. Why anyone would stay there is beyond me. Rooms are cramped...how many beds do they really have to put into a room? Find another hotel. This one is just too weird....

Unfortunately, traveling with a touring group, as this guest did, takes away the opportunity for individuals to pre-evaluate and choose their own lodgings. We especially cater to families, and we have designed our rooms to accommodate them. Certainly, that room would be more spacious with just one queen bed, but most couples just use the extra bed to spread out... More

We knew before going that the room would be small because of when the motel was built. But there are so many positives about this property! First of all, it was quiet. We live in a rural area, so being in the city would be a little intimidating. This was perfect. Two blocks to the beach, we were able to... More
