Stayed here on the last night of a Trek America tour. Had just over 24hrs in San Francisco, so the location of this hostel wasnt the best for us. Pretty isolated, we ended up spending more on taxis than we would have liked. The hostel itself is ok. Basic, but clean. Rooms were pretty crammed, but everyone friendly and the... more

I stayed at the hostel for 4 nights with a group of 9th grade girl scouts from Colorado. I definitely recomend it for groups traveling with high school age youth. The dorm rooms, shared bath, and communal kitchen facilities were just like a youth camp and the girls felt very at home. The location is unbelievable. Beautiful views and a... more

I stayed at the hostel for two nights back in November 2007 and had a really good experience. My friend and I arrived at nightfall and easily made our from the airport to the hostel in a Super Shuttle (definitely the best transport option in the US) and checked in quickly. We had a private room which slept three. The... more

I Found Hostel on the Girl Scout web site while looking for troop adventures to take with 9th grade Cadettes. Main goal was to walk across Golden Gate Bridge to next level of scouting. Place worked out well for us 3 leaders and 10 girls. We had 2 rooms, one slept 10 the other 4. We spent 4 days and... more

I have stayed here three times with GS Troops; this time with a Senior Troop (our girls were 18) and in the past with 8th and 11th grade girls. Have had above average experiences all three times (since 1999). One of the best locations around. Great kitchen facilities. Close to Fisherman's Wharf and public transportation. Helpful and pleasant staff. Close... more

I was part of a group that stayed at this hostel for one night. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean as were the bathrooms. The beds were comfortable though the top bunk of the bed I slept in came down a bit far. The breakfast was fine. more

We stayed here for 4 nights with a group containing 4 adults and 4 children aged 8-13. We had a private room for each family and the bunks were very comfortable and the rooms spacious. The communal rooms were great, the free breakfast and cheap dinners were much appreciated and the location just superb. The kids loved exploring outside and... more

I spent 3 nights here after a great deal of Trip Advisor research. Because I am an older insomniac who likes hostels, but needs to sleep, I paid for a private room. The hostel is in a fabulous setting in parkland. Free breakfast in a nice room looking across to the water. They also do a cheap evening meal which... more

The Fort Mason hostel is set in former military buildings and although they're historically interesting, they're not particularly comfortable. I found the hostel to be a little too cold, damp and drafty for my liking. The million-dollar views, however, are unbeatable. I doubt any full service hotel could provide a better backdoor view. The cafe and sitting areas are great... more

This is really nice hostel in Fort Mason, it is really quiet and safe area and you can't beat the beautiful view of GG bridge you get every day! It's like 10 minutes walk to the fisherman's wharf but you will enjoy walking around the bay every day! Rooms are really nice and and very clean and so are the... more
