Great location, decent breakfast, quiet place, parking might be a small problem when guests are full. Close to supermarket, water front, ... We will stay here again in summer. Yeah!

Thank you so much for your kind review! We are so happy that you enjoyed your time here with us. Parking is first come first serve, so yes, at times it can be a little tight, but for the majority of the time there is plenty of space. We are looking forward to having you back this summer! Take care... More

This hotel has a brilliant location as only 10/15 minute walk from fishermans wharf, but other than that nothing else really going for it. Too many beds pushed into the room so no space to even move your bags and no plugs/ individual lights in the room whatsoever! Hotel itself is very old and staff weren't very helpful when we... More

Nice location but it's not easy to get to unless you're driving. It also used to be a great place to stay but no longer. Extremely popular with groups (and sometimes locals or homeless folks as it's in National Park domain), so it tends to be fully booked most times meaning hefty rates for you as well as putting up... Thank you for your review! I apologize that you did not have the best possible experience when you were here last year. Given that our hostel is in a national park, our facility is very attractive to folks from all walks of life, including school groups, bicycle tour groups and a wide variety of other groups. The Hostelling International mission... More

Basic, very good location, cheap. room was very cold - we slept in thermals. Ground floor in a park. Security could be better. Hand drier in bathroom next to us was loud overnight. Staff were helpful, decor of lounge was very nice.

Thank you for your review! I apologize that your room was cold. We were having some troubles with our heating system during the month of December, but they have since been fixed. We could have given you more blankets, so I am extra sorry you were not warm enough. The comfort and safety of our guests is something that we... More

I honestly do not understand the raving reviews this hostel has got. Yes the location is great, your overlooking the bay, and can see the Golden Gate Bridge from outside however you are in a park that is not safe to walk through at night, one man told us about being held up there one night a few weeks ago... Thank you for staying with us and for your honest feedback regarding our facilities! I apologize if you felt unsafe in our location; the safety of our guests is very important to us. We keep the area as well lit as possible, but cannot control who comes in and out of the park. Hopefully you were safe for the length... More

I landed up in San Francisco not knowing what lay ahead! I looked up a few hostels online and randomly booked this hostel for 2 nights. But that was just the plan - the reality turned out to be QUITE different! When I finally left this place, I'd had stayed for 9 nights in total and had had an amazing... More

They love it, too. Daughter and I shared a private room; grandson slept in the dorm. We all agreed this was a quiet, peaceful place we'd return to. Sitting by the fire in the common room, reading, taking pictures of the Golden Gate bridge from the deck off the cafe, watching the SF parrots in the Eucalyptus tree out in... More

Two friends and I stayed here for three nights in July 2014 and were neither impressed, nor disgusted. It's a hostel, plain and simple. Lots of families, international travelers, backpackers, etc. The breakfast was always a little crowded (and watch out for that sun in the summer, whew-boy that's hot). The coffee was perhaps some of the word I've ever... More

Friendly staff & Great location(if you like a quiet place). I really liked the view of Golden Bridge from Fort Mason. But the facility and the cleaness of the room 241 (the seperate building) was poor.

Located in Fort Mason, the hostel is a short walk to the wharf and piers. Overall a great hostel with a nice cafe and common area. There was no charging ports I could find in the bedroom which is a bit frustrating. Bathrooms were a bit dirty. Other than that it's the best hostel I've been to in San Francisco.

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
