We were shocked when we arrived at the hostel. We were not expecting something so nice and set in a great location. Rooms were clean and people were friendly.. breakfast was good. About a 30 min walk to fisherman's wharf

I mean it is a hostel, have your expectations in check. I thought it was great mostly because I am used to paying $30 a day JUST FOR PARKING in San Francisco. I paid $30 a night for a dorm bed, breakfast and parking. I mean that's like almost free. lol I stayed in a private room with 2 twin... More

The front desk rep was really friendly upon our arrival! We were immediately impressed by the great location of the hostel. Such a safe and private area, and plenty of parking. We felt comfortable leaving our car there for the three days of our stay. My boyfriend and I stayed in a co-ed dorm with about 20 people. We were... More

Five nights of fun in the sun. About $40 a night including continental breakfast. If you drive parking is included. Lots of fun people from around the world in my room. I've been staying here for 19 years and I will be back.

The hostel was wonderful. The location had amazing views and a perfect view and was extremely safe. There was free parking and the common rooms were great with movies in the theatre room. The staff was wonderful, there was free wifi, and the breakfast was very good. The only negatives were that the breakfast area was too small to accommodate... More

All in all, the place worked out fine. I'm a veteran of hostels around the world, and the experience here was par for the course - that is to say, perfectly acceptable, with lots of amenities right in house, so once you're there, you don't necessarily have to go anywhere (a good thing since the building is located a bit... My first hostel experience and by far a wonderful experience, everyone working there was so helpful and kind, always friendly and in good spirits even at 1am. Very clean bathrooms, showers, kitchen, sleeping rooms, beds, and you name it the whole place was great. The free breakfast was just right, and they cafe food was delish and not expensive at... More

My friend and I stayed at HI-SF for 3 nights after she flew in from Australia. The location is literally right on the bay in the Marina District with a view of Alcatraz in front and the Golden Gate to your left. Can't beat that! Room was small but private, but the bunk beds need a ladder rather than trying... More

We were there for alternative spring break for 9 nights total. Don't expect much from here, even though I like the location. Most of their room is hostel style double bed. For hitch hiker and cheaper traveler, it would be the best option. Bathroom and toilet are not clean (okkay, it works fine and they clean them everyday but its... More

To paraphrase a 1970s movie theme song, “Where do I begin..?” To tell the story, that is, of a stay at a previously beloved venue which has now devolved into a rude awakening? I first stayed here in August of 2001, one month before the horrific attacks upon the U.S.A. It was a quieter time, perhaps more genteel, certainly more... More
