We took our group of middle school girl scouts here for a field trip. While not expecting anything fancy we did expect cleanliness, especially when the hostelling international representatives told is it was the nicest hostel in the US. Floors looked like they hadn't been swept in weeks mattress pads on beds has not been washed since there was hair... More

$25 for this place is a superb value! It’s right in the middle of Fort Mason, walking distance from Fisherman’s Wharf and Presidio, easy access to public transit and a great view from your window to Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. So it’s a great place to crash and base your explorations from. Of course, spartan shared rooms and baths,... More

1. Hostel location is very very good. No Doubt about it. I bet you won't get a better location in San Francisco if you love nature and peace. 2. Ambiance in the hostel is good. 3. Staff are very friendly and always ready to help without showing any weird gestures on their faces. 4. Breakfast is included in your rent.... More

I stayed at this Hostel for 3 nights in April and found the place quite dirty and some of the staff on the front desk, rude,un smiling and basically should have a job that doesn't involve dealing with the public. I was half an hour late leaving my shabby room and was told quite sarcastically by VICTORIA, that I should have... More

Was a bit confused how this could be rated so far down the list despite seemingly looking great online. Staying here I worked it out. The location and the free parking are the real drawcards here - they really can't be beat - and the hostel is located in a very spacious area called Fort Mason which does not feel... More

Lots of what people want to see in The City is within walking distance, plus the public transit is easy to use. The people who staff the hostel are gracious, helpful, and not-at-all stuffy!

I just returned from three days in San Francisco with 26 middle-schoolers and four parent chaperones. The facility was perfect - excellent location, affordable price, beautiful grounds. Best of all, the staff was extremely patient with the energy that a group of that size/age brings. I highly recommend this hostel for groups. I am interested to enjoy this wonderful hostel... More

I booked a private room for three nights at a price of $75 per night and was very disappointed. While the room was private, that was the only advantage it had. My room was directly under the breakfast room on the second floor and consequently I was woken very early each morning with the very noisy scraping of chairs on... More

I had a federal advisory meeting to attend without a "federal budget" this location was right on Fort Mason were my meeting was conducted. It provided all the aesthetic beauty of staying on the waterfront for a fraction of the cost. It was clean, the people were friendly, the atmosphere was eclectic, youthful, and comfortable. I stayed in a 9... More

I stayed here for three nights while in SF. I stayed in the smaller female room with two bunk beds. Its a great location, I walked to everything I needed to and was able to take a bus back. I chose this place because I could park my rental car for free. The rooms were fairly clean, as were the... More
