This was my sixth time to stay in a Hotel close to Union square. As every year I go to a conference to San Francisco, I'm familiar with the area and several hotels around Union Square. My experience with Taylor hotel was the worst one in last 6 years. First it was extremely overpriced. More than $140 per night! Surprisingly... More

Quite an old hotel but kept pretty well. Great location being so close to the center of the city. Lift is very old fashioned. If the gates are not in place, the lift won't work. Had to walk up a couple of times to the floor the lift was stuck on as someone was tardy and left the gate open.... More

Yuck, yuck, yuck! I was supposed to stay 3 nights but left after one. The staff are incredibly rude and unhelpful. The room was absolutely filthy with hair in the bed and I got bitten by fleas in the carpet. The whole place also smells of urine. Avoid!

I'm pretty easy going when it comes to hotel rooms, and have no problem with "basic" but this hotel redefines the definition. I stayed here for 4 days and didn't want to pay the $200+ a night that the rest of the hotels in the area were charging. The price was by far the cheapest of any hotel in this... More

Be prepared to get depressed by the colour of the walls in the room. They are the worst kind of yellow you can get in a badly lit room. The only thing that works in favour of this place is its location- I do not think that the low price works in its favour at all. The rooms are not... More

Do not expect luxury such as bedside lamp, hair dryer or maid service every day (but every second day). The room has ghastly yellow coloured walls, a noisy ceiling fan and absolutely no charm. It seems clean enough though. We were upgraded from "basic" to "standard" I do not know the difference, but maybe the basic one does not have... More

During Bay to Breakers weekend it is virtually impossible to get a hotel room (with private bath) in this part of SF for less than $200/night. This hotel came in well under that price point. Parking is available in a few areas within a block of the hotel, and very pricey but not a surprise for SF. Although the building... More

Sheets and pillow cases were filthy and stained. And when asked to change them, the staff asked extra money for room service. There is no free breakfast as mentioned on TripAdvisor. The rooms and the entire building has a super funky smell. The staff was okay. They werent friendly but they werent rude either. The rooms are in terrible condition... More

I just stayed at the hotel again - the 4th time in 10 years. I considered booking another hotel , but the cost of the Taylor is so competitive it seemed like a waste of money, given that I was only gong to sleep there! To me, the hotel has many advantages - apart from the price. Number one -... More

I booked this hotel knowing it would be basic but just needing a cheap place to sleep in an expensive city. For around $70 per night this was very well located and acceptable for an old building. It was awkward having to be buzzed in each time but good for security. There is a very strong Indian cooking smell in... More
