The Hi downtown has great facilities - (very) clean rooms, internet stations, huge kitchen, vending machines and a common area. There is no real "travelers' vibe" but it's a good place to stay in town and in a good price. more

I have stayed at this hostel seven times between 1996 to the present and have had very few reasons to complain. Back in 1996 the area was littered with hookers and the homeless however due to it's close proximity to the Tenderloin that in itself is hardly suprising.
