Unique hotel in the Presidio in San Francisco. Historic building and historic surroundings. Stayed two nights in March on business. My room was a suite, and very nicely appointed with contemporary furnishings. Clean. Fast internet. Friendly and helpful staff. Self-serve breakfast with lots of choices. View of the bay and the Golden Gate bridge. It does require some willingness for... More

This is not your cable car and trendy tourist San Francisco. This is the Presidio, guardian of the Golden Gate and premier Army post of the US until the 1990s, when the military gave it up to Golden Gate National Seashore. One of San Francisco's newest hotels, the casual Inn now lets you live like a general for a brief... More

We chose this hotel far from the city center based on the wonderful photos of the hotel surroundings on their website. Fortunately for the hotel, the photos were taken on an occasion when there was a momentary gap in vehicular traffic on the road, including trucks and buses. The building is old and not insulated to modern noise standards, so... More

Once an officers barracks at the turn of the century - it is now a gorgeously restored boutique hotel with tons of character. Each room has huge fully operable windows that let in the fresh sea and forest air, warm or cool breezes and plenty of light. Furnishings are lush and straight out of a Restoration Hardware catalog and many... More

Who knew that there was a huge, forested "sanctuary" in the middle of the bustling & crowded city of San Francisco?! The Inn at Presidio used to be Officer's Quarters, from my understanding, until the '90's, when the entire base was converted to a National Park, almost entirely funded by the Presidio Trust. The location is WALKING distance to the... More

Stayed here last week for one night to visit our son who lives nearby, enroute to Sonoma for the weekend. So wonderful, from the large comfortable rooms and baths (the shower is to die for), to the warmth of the staff and the prime but quiet location. Special thanks to the night staff last Thursday who agreed to leave the... More

The Presidio is a great place to stay, close to the attractions of San Francisco, with a regular free shuttle service into the city centre. We had suite on the third floor which we found to be very comfortable and well equipped. Staff were very helpful. There is a good buffet breakfast and evening wine/cheese.

My family and I loved staying at this safe, friendly, historic inn! The breakfast was amazing and a great variety. The suite was so comfortable for our family of 3. The views from the Inn are stunning. This area is where you want to go to see the Golden Gate and the bay. The Inn is set in a lush... More

TripAdvisor said # 2; but we say #1... Located on the historic, scenic, Presidio of San Francisco, the Inn was once the BOQ- Bachelor Officers Quarters, for the one-time 6th US Army, which traces its history back to the Gold Rush, Civil War, Spanish American War, and every other US military operation, up through Operation Desert Storm, in Iraq... Away from the bustle of downtown SFO AND with ample very inexpensive parking (7 dlrs per day) the Inn offers large rooms that include a separate sitting area and bedroom. Clean adequate bathroom/shower and marvelous views of the Presidio that may include the Golden Gate bridge as well. An adequate but not particularly special continental breakfast is included in the... More
