This hotel is excellently situated. The bus stop is just a few steps from the hotel, and in a city like San Francisco with an excellent transit system of efficient and extensive connectivity, this is a big plus. The Lombard Gate of the Presidio is also just a few yards away. The free Presidio bus routes give access to the... More

We asked the Manager of the Country Hearth a lot of questions about getting around San Francisco and his help and knowledge was invaluable. We were very grateful for his directions ( a lot better than our GPS) which helped us find our way around and then out of town. Thanks again. Also might add the bed was really comfortable... More

Just got back from a vacation in San Francisco, we chose this hotel frankly for the price, and the location, saw some good reviews so we took a chance. Our room was bottom floor, which was nice at first, after so many hours on planes didn't feel like carrying bags so many stairs, didn't see an elevator, though it might... More

This small Inn is very well located and super convenient if you have a car because you can park it for free. Everything is very clean, the heating system works well and the price is great for San Francisco hotel and inn prices. Things to improve: - Decoration - Breakfast Pros: - Very clean - Good service - Free Wifi... More

I consider myself a reasonable traveler when it comes to value for money with regards to hotels. I agree with other reviews that the location is great and on a small, quiet portion of Lombard St. Having said that, here is my "beef" with hotels like this: with just a bit more attention to details the room could truly be... We really enjoyed our stay in Country Hearth Inn. The hotel is pretty quiet and at a nice location near the main street. The staff was very friendly and we liked the simple breakfast, although it does start to get old after just a few days. Our "Evergreen" room was perfectly clean and comfortable, and everything was working flawlessly. Also,... More

PROS: On site parking, close to Presido, easy access to "trolley tour" stops, small deli up the road and bus stops within easy walking distance. CONS: Overpriced, small room, doughnuts and muffins out of a box for breakfast, would not accept discount coupons, poor TV reception and general customer service.

I loved it here. Quiet area, next to Presidio, you can see Golden Gate Bridge in the distance and plenty of buses around to access the city. The motel itself is nice, small, charming and classically American, which is exactly what we were after. It's simple and basic, with a few small bits and pieces for breakfast, but it's in... More

This is a good compromise to stay in San Francisco without spending too much money. The location is not in the city center but the many attractions are at walking distances. Hence: convenient and not so costy. The staff is helpful and breakfast is good, though served in the lobby as a take-out.

If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg to stay downtown, this motel is a good choice. It is rather small and is booked full every night so make reservations early. You don't need a car since you can catch busses #30, #28, #45 across the street near Walgreens. It is located near the corner of Lombard... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
