Artists Inn is a cozy home away from home in San Francisco's Fillmore district. The area is residential with numerous shops and good restaurants within walking distance including a very hip Starbucks within 3 blocks. The owner, Denise is a great host. Her husband, now deceased, was an artist and his work fills the inn with beauty. The Inn is... More

I absolutely loved this place. I was in town on business and wanted to avoid staying in an anonymous hotel downtown. It is such an oasis -- the garden, the lovely rooms, and the personal (but also very private) feel of it. I stayed in Virginia's room, which had a really comfortable bed, excellent shower, and so many interesting art... More

We had a wonderful experience at the Artists Inn. The manager Lily was very pleasant and welcoming and extremely helpful. We were able to extend our stay with minimal fuss when faced with a flight cancellation. We started with a bit of a mix up as we had requested the studio room which other reviews said had a small kitchen.... More

This small hotel boutique has good style. Is located right next to restaurants, shops, Japantown. Is quiet, clean, very confortable, well decorated. The price is good. I would stay again here. For a longer stay I will enjoy more the sunny patio with orchids, perfect for reading or writing.

Upon arriving we were greeted by the owner Denise, who was so welcoming. Inside this typical San Francisco wooden house is a warm friendly atmosphere. We stayed in the garden room with its delightful unique decor. The room was full of books and desks reminiscent of an artist's studio. We had a wonderful time picnicking in the garden, Denise was... Artist's inn is a pleasant place to stay. Location is good for visitors with a car. We had no problem parking at nights. We're out all day anyway. Staying in the studio room you will be up by 7:00 - giant windows let in natural sunlight. Fine with me. The room is huge, with a full kitchen. Two downsides: 1.... More

I booked at the Artists Inn because a friend was staying nearby. It was really a terrific place. There is one room in the main house (The Garden Room), the rest are behind a charming courtyard. Our room (Virginia's) was a very comfortable large room. My folks booked Robert's Room but were upgraded to the studio. They had a kitchen... More

Artists Inn, Fillmore district, San Francisco. Wonderful inn a half block off Fillmore, easy access to several bus routes that will take you everywhere you want to go; great food in easy walking distance. Comfy, funky rooms with great beds surrounding a nifty garden courtyard. Would have loved to spend more time with the owner, Denise, who was lovely on... More

Can't say enough good things about the Artists Inn. Hotels in San Francisco are outrageously expensive. The Artists Inn was a great value. Denise was very accomodating. I really like her hands-off approach. She was very friendly and there when we needed her, but wasn't staying up for us and wanting to talk my ear off all of the time,... More

We stayed here recently for 3 nights. Denise was upfront about the lack of breakfast and the local cafe offering 50% discount was very good. It may have helped to have a transport map in the room as even by looking on the internet the SF system is hard to fathom. Very handy for the numbers 3 and 1 buses... More
