The location is perfect. You are on Nobb Hill and central to most everything. The cable car stop for all three major routes is within 100 yards at the intersection. A major bonus! The hotel is on a hill but then so is most of San Fransisco! We had room 106. A well kept one bedroom on the elevator side.... More

After making a reservation 6 months in advance and taking all day to drive to San Francisco, I was shocked that my wife had told me the man at the front desk refused to give her our room that we had already paid for. Furthermore I was disgusted to hear that he had insulted her. Thinking there must be some... More

We have our timeshare at Powell Place. We've stayed there a few times. The staff is warm and friendly. The rooms are clean, quaint and comfortable. It's like having an apartment in the city. It's located on a hill so there's lots of walking. Great location and less than a mile from Union Square and Chinatown. If you want to... More

My wife and I treated ourselves to a getaway here at Easter. It is a splendid Victorian nestled among the classy high rises of Nob Hill, just a short walk to China Town, Grace's Cathedral, and the Mark Hopkins, Fairmont and Ritz-Carlton hotels. The cable car, which clangs all day long just outside the front door, added to the old-time... More

We got one bedroom suit, the room is very clean, very spacious. Bed is comfortable, the cable car stop is right down the block. If you need wifi , they charge 7 days for $20, 4 days or less $12. The parking garage is 3-4 blocks away.

I went here last year whilst visiting my sister in the States. The staff were extremely helpful and polite when we asked to change rooms twice. They went out of their sYstem to make our stay pleasant. Very clean. Only downside is that it is right next to the cable car terminus and could be quite noisy in the room.

This place is not so great. It's easier to list the issues here. 1)They have an elevator that serves half the establishment. 2)They don't provide shampoo and conditioner which should Be a given. 3) Some lights in my room didn't work and I was told "oh well, we noted it." When I showed my dissatisfaction with that answer, the front... More

This place is just lovely, from suite that we occupied, to the welcome at reception, the location and everything about the place as a whole. The people are friendly, the place is spotless and the proximity to everything is just the ideal place to stay. Chinatown is a couple of blocks away, Union Square a couple of blocks down the... Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighborhood decorated with colorful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighborhood.
