We were surprised to find such a great rate so close to Union Square on a Saturday night! On the edge of Union Square and not far from Chinatown. Staff were helpful and when we got stuck in traffic on the day of check out they allowed us to check out an hour later which eased our rush. Our room... More

I suppose you need to judge the overall hotel based upon the cost to stay. The location is quite good, a few shops up is a laundromat, across the road is the Alamo and national car hire, close to tram stop and a good breakfast eatery on next corner towards China town. Not far from China town, down a few... More

An exceptional location in the Union Square neighborhood, this hotel is clean and decent place to stay with a convenient walk to main attractions. The rooms have the historic city charm at a reasonable cost. They subsidize the garage parking across the street which is also a plus.

This was my second stay at the Grant and downtown SF seemed to have even more homeless people than on the last visit in 2011. The Grant is well located, close to Market Street although the last block between Sutter and Bush streets is a steep climb on Powell. The rooms are small but clean, basic amenities and a functional... More

We visited this hotel for a two night break in San Fransisco. It's location was a two minute walk from China Town which is fantastic for food and tourist shopping. The hotel is basic but very clean and comfortable. Many other hotels in San Fransisco have shared bathrooms so we specifically chose The Grant so we could have our own... More

Excellent location for this cheap hotel. The basics were present: bed, bathroom, spacious room ( we even had a crib in and didnt feel crammed in at all). We had a large window overlooking a brick wall but that didnt really bother us. This is perfect for a good night sleep! Breakfast is very frugal. I will def stay here... More

We travelled by underground train to central SF from the Airport and walked from the nearest station to The Grant. Big mistake after a tiring Trans-Atlantic flight! By the time the foyer was reached we were plumb tuckered out! (steep streets, but not a huge distance). Our check in went very smoothly and We were ushered to our room. It... More

There really is not a better way to describe this place. It is cheap. It is clean. It's an overall good value given the cost of hotels in general in San Francisco. Do not expect amenities including air condition, extra towels, a view, etc. You get a bed, TV, bathroom. It is small and stuffy. But, everything said, would I... More

This hotel is nothing special but it does the trick if you want somewhere to sleep for a cheap price compared to other hotels in the area. The hotel is located right beside a male strip club, but we weren't bothered by it as it wasn't busy or loud. It is actually very well located as you can walk between... More
