If you're looking for a hotel in San Francisco, you'll get shocked at the prices. So The Grant Hotel is a reasonable hotel which it's very clean, neat, pretty close to the Union Square and the trolley stops at the corner. The room is very basic, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was huge and... More

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. Clean, friendly staff, close to restaurants, blues bars, Bart service, cable car. We walked to many places from this hotel. Ideally located, I would stay here again.

Not the best hotel in the world - the wall's are paper thin and you know what that means. (Yep.) But the room, though basic, was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was huge and also quite clean. Desk people seemed variable: at any given time, you could have a really affable young girl, oblivious middle-aged man, bemused... More

When we were looking for hotels in San Francisco we were shocked at the prices. The Grant hotel seemed to be the most reasonable hotel which had your own bathroom We were on the ground floor at the back end and it was nice and quiet. Decor is old and hotel is nothing special looking but for the price we... More

What we liked: - staff members we met were warm, polite and accommodating - our room (on 4th floor, away from street noise) was clean, basic, but it had everything we needed - there's a Powell-Market/Hyde cable car stop (Bush St.) at the street corner (steps from hotel), which you can take to go sightseeing (Tip: buy the Muni Visitor... The Grant Hotel is a perfect place to stay in expensive San Francisco if you're not looking for anything fancy. We were there for a one-day trip. Check in was quick and they even held a bottle of whiskey that my Fiancé had left for me as a gift for when we checked in. Rooms had everything needed as far... More

This is not on Union Square (as advertised on Booking.com) but up a very steep hill about 10 mins from Union square. We are walkers and both quite fit so it wasn't a problem for us but it could be for some. The hill to it is exceptionally steep as many of them are in San Francisco Our room was... More

Like others have mentioned it's in a fantastic location and very reasonable for San Francisco. The building is very old and seen better days but cleaned daily to a high standard. Shower had very good water pressure and endless hot water. Room temp fine and my room had very large windows facing another close building. It afforded privacy and plenty... More

This is a very old hotel and our first impression was not great, however our room was clean, warm spacious enough and everything worked. It is very central to the cable car, trains, and city Centre. Part of the deal was a free breakfast , which consisted of pastries, muffins and machine tea/coffee, all self service in the reception area.... More

Really, if you are in San Fran you will not spend too much time in your room, will you? So the Grant hotel is just fine, and leaves you more money to spend at all the amazing ethnic restaurants in the neighbourhood
