My boyfriend and I stayed here about a year ago. When we checked in the lady said the room we had booked (full size bed) was small and she upgraded us for the room with the queen bed for FREE! She said the room was a little bit bigger and she thought we might like that. The room was clean,... More

The Hotel is very simple and traditional, there's nothing trendy, posh or sophisticated. It look a bit old and quaint, victorian style. The location is Perfect: you're so close to Union Square, Chinatown and Powell Street Cable car route. I could walk my luggage from Powell St Bart station to the hotel, there was a steep hill to climb, but... More

The Hotel is in a good location. two minutes to chinatown and 5 minutes to Union Square. Local Restaurants and cable car stop is close too. The Hotel itself is not really modern and the WIFI doesn't work in the evening. The room are ok. To sleep there is enough but not to stay. The breakfast is only croissants and... More

I chose to book this hotel as prices of most of SF hotels were skyrocketing due to a major convention and this was one of the few hotels still having a sane price. The hotel is well located near the Union Square and is easily accessible from the airport by public transit using BART. The nearest BART station is Powell... More

We were surprised to find such a great rate so close to Union Square on a Saturday night! On the edge of Union Square and not far from Chinatown. Staff were helpful and when we got stuck in traffic on the day of check out they allowed us to check out an hour later which eased our rush. Our room... More

I suppose you need to judge the overall hotel based upon the cost to stay. The location is quite good, a few shops up is a laundromat, across the road is the Alamo and national car hire, close to tram stop and a good breakfast eatery on next corner towards China town. Not far from China town, down a few... More

An exceptional location in the Union Square neighborhood, this hotel is clean and decent place to stay with a convenient walk to main attractions. The rooms have the historic city charm at a reasonable cost. They subsidize the garage parking across the street which is also a plus.

This was my second stay at the Grant and downtown SF seemed to have even more homeless people than on the last visit in 2011. The Grant is well located, close to Market Street although the last block between Sutter and Bush streets is a steep climb on Powell. The rooms are small but clean, basic amenities and a functional... More

We visited this hotel for a two night break in San Fransisco. It's location was a two minute walk from China Town which is fantastic for food and tourist shopping. The hotel is basic but very clean and comfortable. Many other hotels in San Fransisco have shared bathrooms so we specifically chose The Grant so we could have our own... More

Excellent location for this cheap hotel. The basics were present: bed, bathroom, spacious room ( we even had a crib in and didnt feel crammed in at all). We had a large window overlooking a brick wall but that didnt really bother us. This is perfect for a good night sleep! Breakfast is very frugal. I will def stay here... More
