very very convenient location, near to the intersection of two tram routes. Roomy rooms, large lift, moderately efficient service, overall "value for Money" accommodation. I wud recommend to take weekly valid tram tkts and fully exploit the beautiful central location of this hotel. It is within walking distance of the Union Square, but no hustle-bustle !

The location of this hotel is excellent; just a 5 minute walk from Union Square, bus/cable car access, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel is good value for money so is suitable for those on a budget and for those who aren't too fussed about having a luxurious stay. However, upon arrival there were two... More

Location fantastic for, union square, china town , cable car, fishermans wharf 35-40 mins walk through china town and street lined with restaurant and bars. Extensive choice of local bars, restaurants all more reasonable than fishermans wharf. Yes does have musty smell on day one, but 2 hours window open it was gone. Bed was not comfortable though. Cleanliness was... More

This is a good hotel for the amount you pay. The room was spacious enough, so was the bathroom. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The noise from the room above and from the corridor was bad but I always bring earplugs when staying in hotels so slept soundly! There are pastries, muffins and apples, as well as... More

The hotel advertises Wifi connection, which is very, very slow, if at all. There were 2 computers downstairs in the lobby, but were constantly in use. No ice buckets for room, Price was a little steep for off peak times and not on weekend. Breakfast is small with a few muffins and coffee and tea, If you want something else you... More

If you want to be a block from the cable car, 2 blocks from Union Square and want that for a small price this is the place to be. The room was small as was the bathroom but it was clean and had everything I needed. They serve a small breakfast thou I did not stop to see what it... More

Location was great, near the metro station and the start to the cable car lines powell & hyde/mason lines. Breakfast was included, a selection of 8/9 muffins/pastries with coffee/tea/green tea and apples. Wifi connection good in room. Price was a little steep given it was offpeak and room/furniure are very old, walls thin (but thankfully tenants weren't noisy for too... More

It is else where written that the place is old and barely furnished so we knew there won't be anything fancy. We then experienced a muddy and annoying smell in the lobby, the corridor and the rooms. The best times passed also for the bathrooms. The other criterias are ok, such as the friendlyness of the staff and the location... More

The Grant Hotel offers great value. The room we stayed in was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. The bed was agreeable. Just next to the hotel is the trolley stop that takes the rider to Market St in about 10 minutes. The final stop (the turnaround for the trolley) is across from a huge mall. Restaurants abound. If you take the... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here about a year ago. When we checked in the lady said the room we had booked (full size bed) was small and she upgraded us for the room with the queen bed for FREE! She said the room was a little bit bigger and she thought we might like that. The room was clean,... More
