The room was dirty when we moved in and inspite of the several attempts, remained that way for the duration of our 5 day stay. The "Green Initiative" means no maid service. After two days we asked for our room to be cleaned and they agreed. Unfortunately, they did a very poor job. We asked to be taken off the... More

Whilst the location of the Grant Hotel, central San Francisco and general cleanliness of the hotel are OK, the customer service during our stay was terrible ! We stayed for 4 nights and every time we passed through reception (multiple times a day) whichever receptionist was in attendance never raised their head from their computer/tablet/phone to acknowledge us, despite us... We had no idea how to get to our hotel but we knew coming off the plane, to take the BART to Powell Station. We did that and the walking directions said walk five or 6 blocks to Bush Street so we decided to walk. OMG! Never again will I think 6 blocks is easy in Frisco. I had my... More

It's all about location, very well located in the heart of San Francisco, few steps from Union Square which made it super convenient. But i didn't like the room at all ancient room without any kind of view and and parts of the hotel were smelly! poor breakfast, which is all about a coffe, piece of cake and and an... More

The hotel blends very nicely with the charm of SF. Its located at a pretty convenient location, with easy access to public transport, restaurants and shopping places. The lift, the corridors and the rooms are pretty old fashioned but it adds to the quaint charm of the place. The good news is that they even serve some breakfast in the... More

The location is good, just one street from Union Square. Rooms are clean and big. Staff is friendly and helpful The "breakfast" is ridiculous (some sweet pastries and "coffee", tea water), but that seems to be normal.

OK this will never be a four star hotel in the Michelin / Fodor guide sense of rating things BUT for travellers on a budget looking for a clean and quite place in a excellent safe location then this is extremely hard to beat ! That's why it has four stars from me. So much of budget hotels downtown SF... More

The Grant Hotel was ideally located for where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see in San Francisco. The room was sufficient enough, the bed comfortable enough to enjoy this place. The continental breakfast was unfortunately not the best. Very basic muffins ... and that was about it ... instant coffee ... not the best for a... More

Great location, walk distance to BART, cable car and Union Square. You have cheap places near, but are not reliable. It's not a big room, but is clean and confortable. Don't worry about the breakfast, wake up late and do a brunch in some place arround.

I booked 5 nights at The Grant Hotel since every other hotel was a fortune. I knew it was a budget hotel from the start and didn't have high expectations, but even those weren't met. The staff is very unpleasant, breakfast is minimal, and the beds were the most uncomfortable ever. Yes, the room was clean, but it had a... More
