Our Flight was cancelled at San Francisco airport on 22 July and we were abandoned by United at midnight to sort ourselves out. After trying all the airport hotels, which were full, at 1am we rang Expedia. I explained that we need an hotel from that time and that night as our flight wasn't until 24 July, ie effectively, 2... Read the reviews and trust them; they are all true. It was like a horror movie. Way too much money for a disgustingly horrible place. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. Giving it 1 star is 1 star too many. Unfortunately I did not have control of the booking situation but within seconds I was able... More

A neat little hotel that sits close to the pier and chinatown. My only complaints were they wouldn't allow visitors and were very firm about it. if you have companions who aren't staying at the same hotel, I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you plan to have them over for the night

This, by far, is the worst hotel I have ever had the opportunity to use. I stayed in it for the RSA Conference in San Francisco. The hotel is in the Tenderloin District. It is close to some fine restaurants and other attractions, but it is a hole. Although my room was one of the rooms with a private bathroom,... More

We were surprised that the hotel receptionist insisted on a 250 dollar down payment in case we smoked in a non smoking room. Expedia, who arranged the booking, do not warn customers of this practice. This 2 star hotel in other respects lived up to expectations ie good cleanliness, restful environment, Central position etc.

The hotel is very dated, and the elevator is downright antique - but in good condition. Decent-seized room with bathroom, nice and clean. No roaches or mice observed! I read complaints about the neighborhood and true, if you walk up the street the scene deteriorates very fast. But not where the hotel itself is. Just a few blocks from Union... More

We paid for a room with 2 full size beds because we were 3 people, but had to pay an extra $100 fee!! Nevertheless, we couldn't talk to the manager neither write a complain. He is never there and they don't have any book for complaints!! The previous costumers called the police because they were not given back the $250... More

I stayed in the Layne Hotel for 6 days, and my overall experience was excellent. When you factor in the cost the overall value was great. I would definitely stay there again. The room was a good size, it was clean, comfortable, and had nice features (a mini-fridge, microwave, cable TV). The people working the front desk were very nice... More

Great location, close to everything. lots of places to eat. walking distance to Union Square, Chinatown, and all public transportation.! we will definitely stay here when we come back!

I have stayed in San Francisco many times and I would never stay here again. They charged almost 300.00 including taxes for dingy dreary accomadations. We only stayed here because we decided to stop by San Francisco for Valentines Day at the last moment and all of the reasonable rooms were booked. The staff was rude which made the stay... More
