Many of the other reviewers have captured the essence of the place. And while it does have a couple of positives on balance it is a poor place to stay. Many others have commented that the area while close to the end of Powell is kind of sketchy. Returning to the hotel late one night even the cab driver told... More

After reading a lot of the reviews on Trip Advisor about The Metropolis hotel, I was a little bit reluctant to stay here. However, I need not have worried. The staff were very friendly and helpful - Jarmmal greeted us on Friday 8th and was very pleasant and helpful. Abddallah the next morning was very friendly and helped us to... More

I read All the reviews about the bums and location and decided to take a chance. It was just as I read, the hotel is just Walking steps from the shopping mall and unión square but on the edge of tenderloin( a dangerous hood) . The rooms were Clean and ok, we switched rooms because the bed was really unconfortable... More

The hotel is a block from the Powell Street Bart station so it makes for easy access from the airport. Scummy neighborhood so you always was to be conscious about where you and the kids are...but it isn't fear inducing. The plumbing in the building is clearly in need of repair (odd smells or sounds in the pipes sometimes) but... More

We are staying in this hotel, sorry but you can not fault the hotel or the staff, the staff have gone out of there way to helpful. Totally agree comfortable beds good size rooms we have interconnecting with our son's, it's in a really good location a bit noisy at night but so handy for every thing,

I stayed here for 2 nights as part of a G Adventures touring group and loved my stay here. The hotel has a brilliant location, literally 2 minutes from Union square and all the main shops. Rooms are great, very comfy, spacious and clean. It's not a 5 star hotel but it does the job for a good nights sleep!... More

Rooms smelled terrible, musty/moldy and no air conditioner or fan to get the air circulating. Windows open but someone was smoking outside, so that didn't help. Cockroach ran out of the closet when I opened it. After being in the room for 5 minutes, I left and found another hotel. Clerk still charged me almost $300, not sure if I... More

If you are looking for an inexpensive spot to stay in downtown San Fran this may meet your needs. Its only 2 blocks from the BART, the trolley to Fishermans Wharf is one block over, and there is lots of shopping within walking distance. You do need to realize though, that the area unfortunately is full of street people, who... More

In the early month of June I decided to look into hotels for the the end of the month. I actually found that seemed decent enough and reasonably priced. Boy was I wrong, this hotel is probably the worst I've ever experienced in san francisco and I've stayed in some sketchy places. Let's start on the day of check in,... More
