We wanted a decent San Fran hotel that didn't break the bank but made it convenient to get around the city via public transit, and this was perfect. TripAdvisor reviews had me well prepared to expect the homeless situation in the flatiron district, which the Metropolis sits at the beginning of. They also warned of noise so I asked for... More

When we arrived in the vicinity of the hotel we were ready to turn round and carry on driving. It was full of very dodgy looking characters, homeless and very obvious drug dealing going on, we suddenly felt very vulnerable. on arriving at the hotel the parking was easy but at a cost of 30 dollars a night. After checking... More

We stayed two nights in this Hotel in San Francisco. The room was very small but clean. The bathroom was also very small. The room was not very expensive but additonal parking costs were very high. Hotel is situated in the Tenderloin area which is not one of the best areas in San Francisco. There were a lot of homeless... More

Stayed here for a week. The hotel was situated in a convenient spot, easy for walking or taking public transport. It's right near the main shopping area of Market Street. The hotel style is a bit dated but the room rate is affordable for San Francisco hotels. We can't say enough about the staff - they are super friendly and... More

The lobby was beautiful. Too bad the rest of the hotel did not match. The rooms looked newly painted, but it was not done well. The decorative pillows on the bed were well worn, and had questionable stains on them. I had some ripped towels in my room. And then there was the noise. I was on the ninth floor,... More

Dear Emily H, Thank you for your feedback and contribution to the Trip Advisor community. I'm happy that you found our lobby to be beautiful and that our service exceeded your expectations. I am concerned about the state you found the linens to be in along with the paint, I would greatly appreciate it if you could reach out to... More

Really nice hotel with fancy lobby in the city centre. The hotel is located literally one block from cable car turnaround on Market Street. The neighborhood is a bit questionable because of lots of homeless around but that is so everywhere on Market. Our room on 9th floor was clean and cozy (you can see a view from our window... More

Stayed in San Fran for just under a week with a friend. We stayed at the Metropolis for one night as part of a tour we were doing. The hotel is lovely, beds are comfy and it's clean but it's located in the tenderloins. Homeless people everywhere (this never bothers me normally but these guys and girls are very aggressive.... I don't normally post really bad reviews, because they can destroy businesses. In this case This place warrants an explanation. This is an appalling place with very little to offer at all. It's a filthy, broken, unkempt mess of an older property, a couple of miles from Fishermans Warf, apparently, right on the edge of one of a very questionable... More

KeithAndSally, Although we try to be a hotel that pleases all our guests, we accept that sometimes we may fall short. I am sorry your experience did not match your expectations. After reading your review, I felt we could have done a better job assigning your room away from the group that was causing you issues. Your feedback is always... More

Stayed here 2 nights for business. Normally this wouldn't be my go to hotel but it's more than OK. Staff was very nice. The entrance was a bit weird through the parking lot but room is totally fine- carpet and furniture could use some update; beds are good and bathroom has a Toto toilet. There's HBO! nice.
