Myself and a friend stayed here for two nights this month and were pleasantly surprised. The room was very well presented, the beds were clean and comfortable and the room in general was clean. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful every time we needed to deal with them so no complaints there. The bathroom was on the small... More

Good value and OUTSTANDING staff. Clean, tasteful rooms, nice public spaces--and you can't beat the Metropolis location for proximity to MUNI and BART Powell station for access to all of San Francisco. There's an exercise room with a step climber and a treadmill, but you'll enjoy walking in the city. Just remember to turn left (Market St.) not right (Turk... More

Clean, friendly, functional rooms, good food near by, very good price. Just on the edge of the disaster that is the Tenderloin, but close enough to civilization that we never felt threatened. Friendly and helpful service.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights it was quite cheap in comparison to others close by but we found this out by wandering out in the wrong direction. We took a right from the hotel and ended up in the tenderloin district of San fran this was pretty scary a lot of alcoholic/drug addicts shuffling about and very... More

Dear jj2011jj, I'm really sorry to hear that you ended up wandering into the Tenderloin district that unfortunately has many displaced residents and homeless people in the area. I'm glad that despite this hiccup it did not have a negative impact on your honeymoon and that eventually you did find that the Hotel Metropolis is conveniently 4 mins walking to... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The hotel is on Mason street and Market Street. It is only about 5 minutes from the Powell train station. At the Powell station as you come out they have the Tourist information center so you can pick up all kinds of booklets and information about SFO. The check in was smoothly... More

We were lucky to find a great room with a connecting living area to celebrate our bachelorette party before going out for dinner and a show. Jaime was also very very kind and friendly. We would definitely rerun to hotel metropolis.

I am from NY and while visiting cousins in LA, took a visit to SF this past weekend. Since the trip was spontaneous, hotel prices were extremely pricey downtown so we settled on Hotel Metropolis for two nights. First, the front desk woman was rude. The male front desk agent, however, was superb and extremely helpful about what activities we... More

I travel to SF for a conference at Moscone every December, so I've stayed in many places. I was very pleasantly surprised by the Hotel Metropolis! Older hotel very nicely updated, everything solid, fantastic, friendly staff, coffee and tea in the library off the lobby in the morning, wonderful shower, well arranged room with lots of storage, comfy bed, big... My husband and I checked out of this hotel and when we reached the airport he realized that he left his jacket hanging on the chair in the room. When I tried to call them, there was no answer. I called the reservations line and they also said there was no answer. I tryed calling again when I got home...no... More

Dear WendyWa_11, In your various attempts in contacting the Housekeeping department on the day you checked out, you left no voicemail or information for the Housekeeping manager to contact you. The 2nd day we received your fax and the email in the morning to which our Housekeeping Manager replied to within half an hour. After a guest checks out the... More

I was in San Fran for a conference, and needed to be near the Moscone Center. The Metropolis was in my price range, but the reviews of the area scared me a bit. I lived in Hells Kitchen in NYC for 7 yrs, so yes, I know a rough area when I see one. I gave the hotel a chance.... More
