Don't get me wrong, this is a great 5 star hotel. The service is excellent, the location, right in downtown near shopping and the sights is ideal, and the rooms are large. However, compared to other similar properties I have stayed in very recently it came up short in a few small but nonetheless significant ways. One, it drives me... More

Very convenient to Union Square for Christmas shopping (SFMOMA, Gump's, Williams-Sonoma). Had electricity all through the power outage of the storm of the decade (Ritz-Carlton did not.) Assistant Front Desk Manager Alexander Warren went above and beyond to give the personalized service we are accustomed to as By Invitation members (we loved that program!) at Four Seasons Tokyo, Las Vegas,... We spent a 3 day weekend here last week just for R & R and to see the San Francisco Ballet production of the Nutcracker. This hotel was outstanding, just as it was for the other 3 times I have stayed here. The room was wonderful with a fantastic view. Comfortable beds. Great service all the way around. Love the... Stayed here right before Thanksgiving and loved the rooms, ambiance in the lobby, and friendly staff. Only downside to this location is there's no kid-friendly pool on premises- you have to use the Marriott pool around the block and its a pain to get to. Otherwise great for adults. Love being so central to shopping and dining on Market Street.

A big fan of 5 star hotels, but this hotel is on market, not the best location for tourisrs, since market start had the most homeless, and not good area in general, especially if you like you get dressed up, wear your couture, etc. Not safe unless you take taxi, or car service everywhere. You may like to be in... More

I had a short business trip and normally dont pick four seasons. I am glad my reservation system brought this hotel up for me. The welcome culture of the hotel is very comforting from checkin to checkout. The bar had good vibe all across and room was very luxurious. I would come back if I have a chance. The room... More

lovely audience in the hotel, which is important considering the fact that it is located in the middle of the busy city. an amazing equinox gym, and spa. incredible location, with a walking distance to everything. still recommend a lot.

Having not stayed here in years, I went back and was so glad to see that the level of service is fantastic. Cant beat the location and the Concierge had calls into the tough to get into restaurants. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. The rooms are well appointed and have spacious bathrooms. My room wasn't ready at check-in, so I dropped off my bags. When I returned that afternoon , they had already taken my bags to my room, which I appreciated. My only complaint would be that the hotel is so large that you have to... More

You can't beat the proximity to all the great shopping- Union Square is blocks away (Barneys, Neimans, Saks etc). The staff here is fantastic- we spent 4 days at the hotel during our honeymoon trip. Arrived and room was great- bottle of champagne and special dessert from the concierge. It was much appreciated- all those details count at a property... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
