Stayed here for the first night of my honeymoon to San Francisco and wine country. Thankfully the rest of our hotels were much better than this one. The best thing this hotel offers is location to the Powell-Market BART and Muni station. Room was tiny and not overly clean. Booked on Hotwire and completely got a "Hotwire room" that overlooked... The hotel was as central as you could need. The rooms had an air of the 50s about them and were nicely decorated but a little rough around the edges. Our bathroom window was very cracked and was held together with tape but other than that overall the room was nice. We had dual aspect and it was a sun... More

After reading some of the reviews on trip advisor, I decided to book this hotel for its location. If u want to be close to town and looking for a smaller boutique style hotel this is a great find. Comfortable beds, staff are very accomodating and right next to Westfield and 100 m to cable car turnaround. I'm not a... More

The Pickwick is in a great location, minutes walk away from the cable car and bus stops and fantastic shops. We were fortunate to have a room on the top floor, even so it was very noisy so bring your earplugs. This probably wasn't helped by the lack of glass in the window frame! Perhaps the rooms at the back... More

Have to start off saying location, location, location. Next door to Bloomingdales, across from the Mint, 1 block from the BART - can't beat these. The price is seems high but not really for San Francisco. The property is older, rooms small, but the bed was VERY comfortable and the room clean. Staff awesome and very helpful. It may seem... The hotel is good (just do not accept the rooms at the end of the Hallways they are SMALL) ... Good Room Service. The best part is that it is about 1 block from Market Street and Westfield Mall. Also very near to places like the Moscone Center. It is expensive but most of the hotels in that zone are... More

Staff argued with me that the soft drink machine was functional and then said I could walk to a nearby liquor store to get a soft drink. Since the location was walking distance to conference locations that was fine but don't make a wrong turn or your in homeless land

We've stayed here several years. The rooms are comfortable and the staff very courteous. Prices are reasonable. There are good restaurants and movie houses nearby. We love the location: near Westfield Shopping Center and Amtrak bus stop, BART, cable cars, Union Square, and a short bus ride to Caltrains. Also convenient transportation to Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown and Golden Gate Park... More

I read some pretty poor reviews before we arrived at the Pickwick and was expecting to be disappointed, I wasn't. Maybe we are just easy to please but the room was great, the squeaky bathroom door the only tiny irritation. We stayed 3 nights...and yes it was noisy from traffic...but given its excellent location hardly surprising and we were so... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
