right in the centre, just where we wanted to be. A little shabby, but our part of the hotel was being renovated, but they will get there. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Staff very friendly and it was nice to stay in an interesting old building.

$300 per night. Appreciate it's SF so expensive but still expect a reasonable standard. 1. Air conditioning didn't work 2. Tap came off in my hand when I turned it on 3. Water pressure in shower non-existent (a gentle trickle) 4. Working in lounge with colleagues...asked for a coffee (we don't do coffee...are you a hotel?) All in all, please... More

We were pre-booked into this hotel as part of a Californian Touring Holiday. Although the hotel is in an old building, we found it to be very quaint. Our room was small, but adequate for our three night stay. It was clean and had all the facilities you would expect. It is in a central location, being only minutes away... More

The Wifi was extremely quick since the recent upgrade. Faster than my office and home. The hotel is actually pretty nice and the rooms have new/recent furniture in them. The staff were EXTREMELY HELPFUL and saved me from footing the bill when my company didn't pay for the room properly. They went out of their way to help me organize... More

For our last night in SF we decided to splurge a little and get a nice place to get some much needed rest. The hotel is a heritage building in one of the busiest areas of downtown SF. It looks great from the outside and the location is key. However, the rooms inside are just barely passable for 3 stars.... More

I read many reviews concerning WiFi issues and the hotel being old. However, my room had great WiFi reception and brand new furniture! After speaking with the front desk staff I was advised that they had just had new furniture added in all of the rooms and their WiFi system was just upgraded, and it was FAST! Rooms are good,... This hotel was pretty abysmal. Granted, I was working from home during my stay so if you're just a regular tourist who will only be sleeping and showering in your room, this might be an okay option. But I would try to avoid spending several waking hours a day here if you can. Specific complaints: - The WiFi didn't work... More

Thank you for the positive comments, and due to the WiFi issues is why last week we installed one of the industry’s Highest Capacity, Highest Performing, Three-stream ZoneFlex R700 Smart Wi-Fi access points by Ruckus, including an EthoStream Pro Series Gateway Server, new wiring, new switches, a complete upgrade package. This will enable guests to have extremely reliable Wi-Fi connectivity!... More

Pros - Location is great - Comfortable beds - Decent TV Cons - Dirty - construction debris was all over the carpets in the hallways - Smells musty everywhere - Pitiful gym with an extremely low ceiling (7ft). Small set of dumbbells (25lb max) and a couple of treadmills. That's it. Pretty lame, even for a hotel gym. - Hot... More

My room looked like it had been split from a previous suite and the bathroom was stuffed into a closet - was ok with the tiny size for one night though. Bed was ok. The bathroom and the sink had a lot of stray hair in them. The wi-fi connection was good but kept dropping every couple of hours, requiring... More

Stayed at the Pickwick from June 4th- June 7th. The hotel has a quant old world charm and it's about two blocks from Union Sq and a hop and skip from Westfield's Mall. I booked direct and got a room for about $150 US a night (not bad for San Fran) , the bed was comfy and the room was... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
