The Hotel is centrally located if you need to be in the 5th/Market to 3rd/Howard corridor. Conveniently close to Powell Street BART & Muni stations, Westfield shopping mall (Tip: Bloomingdale’s gives out-of-towners a 10% discount -- Corey in Handbags helped me find the perfect navy bag), Yerba Buena Gardens, Metreon theater complex, Marriott/AMA Conference Center, and Moscone Center. Less than... More

I was actually staying at this hotel for a conference at Moscone Center, which for the first few nights was quite reasonable ($120 per night), and quite worth that. The last night, however, which they charged $299, was probably not worth it and could have been had a a much lower price somewhere else, considering that my room overlooked the... More

Great location just off market street and next to the Westfield San Fran mall. Service was friendly and helpful and I must say that the rooms are probably the most value for money this side of town. The king size bed in particular created a dent in our travel plans for the day because it was just too comfortable! Will... More

The staff was nice and friendly and the location is fine. That is the best I can say about this hotel. The rooms look nothing like they do on the website. Overpriced parking. The noise from the street was so loud because of the cheap windows there. Every 30 minutes, a loud bang could be heard from a pipe in... More

The Pickwick Hotel is in many ways a European city style hotel in downtown San Francisco. Our "classic" room was small by US standards, but more than adequate by European ones. The air conditioning worked well, the bed was comfortable, hot water for the bath was plentiful (we never tried the shower), and the room was always kept clean and... More

Well, where do I start. From the beginning might be best. I went to San Francisco in late September to attend the JavaOne conference. The Pickwick hotel is located nicely between the Moscone center and Hilton where the JavaOne conference was located which was nice. The area have nice restaurants, I would personally like to mention Box Kitchen half a... More

This hotel is a fine stay, nothing special and nothing horrible. The room was small but had everything I would need for a short stay including a fridge. The bathroom is pretty tight and the water pressure isn't the best. My husband lost hot water halfway through one shower too. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant/bar downstairs was... This is the first hotel that I've actually left one night into my stay. The staff were perfectly kind, but aside from the location, this hotel has nothing going for it. My room, located in a corner of the building, was not clean. The bathroom seemed like it had been updated recently at first glance. However, I quickly found that... More

This hotel has a great location for a SF tourist - close to public transportation, trolleys, same block as a great mall with an amazing food court, union square. The block itself is a bit sketchy. There are a lot of bums outside and across the street. They will bother you. The room itself is pretty nice. I had two... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
