Location was central and so very easy to get to the main attractions. However, there were a lot of homeless people around the hotel - one man was completely naked having a wash near the entrance! Our room looked out of the front of the hotel over to a museum type building where lots of people were sleeping and we... More

We were booked in for 3 nights the room wasn't what we asked for had 2 separate beds (instead of a king) was tiny and could hardly fit our luggage. Staff were not very helpful when we mention that wasn't what we booked and apparently nothing could be done until morning and that was a maybe! The shower was awful,... More

Good hotel, excellent location and most of all excellent people working in there, special thanks to Marguerite for the great service provided. The rooms are standard, WIFI is included along with a morning coffee.

You will hear the road and people in the corridor and other rooms. If this doesn't bother you, go ahead and stay. Room was nice and clean, comfy bed and decent shower, nothing special but quite acceptable. Door didn't really shut properly (it locked but left a gap at the bottom) meaning you could hear the corridor clearly. The city... More

Stayed for 3 nights for business. Pros: Bed was very comfortable. Good products in the bathroom. Great location. Wifi worked well. Cons: Hotel overall needs a makeover. Rooms had heavy dust on the windows. Windows did not lock all the way. Doors were flimsy and I felt could be opened at anytime without a key. Was a fine stay for... More

The best thing about this hotel was without a doubt, the location! It is situated next to the Westfield shopping centre which has everything you need and is quite nice to walk through if you don't need/want anything. It is also close to Union Square, China Town and is a pick up for the City Sightseeing Bus Tour, what more... More

The Pickwick is in a great location in SoMA and is particularly convenient if you are attending an event at Moscone - it's about 1-2 blocks, depending on which Moscone building is your destination. The staff are friendly and I've never had any noise or other issues while staying at the hotel. With that said, this is a older hotel,... More

Picked this because of the reasonable rates and location close to a conference I was attending at the Marriott Marquis one block away. The room was spacious enough for a big city hotel, and the hotel was well maintained if charmless. Receptionists were somewhat cold, but you get that sometimes in high traffic tourist areas. I might stay here again... More

I arrived in SF by bus/AMTRAK from Emeryville and was dropped just round the corner on Market and 5th Street. The hotel is really well located for the shopping district on Market and Union a Street. You are minutes away from the Cable Car terminus on Powell, but avoid this as the queue is too long!! (Start a cable car... More

Spent 5 nights in the Pickwick at the start of our holidays. Hotel is in great location. Central to shops and transport etc. rooms are very tired and in need of some TLC! Our room was to the front of the hotel where we heard every vehicle pass throughout the whole night, and inconsiderate guest in the room next to... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
