2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

Checked in the hotel mid afternoon and all seemed okay. Typical 3 star though the a/c was working fine. During the night the a/c started blowing out warm air. My sense is that they turned the chillers off to save $ though the next morning the manager Allen admitted the problem and stated it was due to 'renovation'. At the... More

I arrived at the Pickwick at 2am after a day of flights that began 19 hours earlier. I was given an unrenovated room on a lower floor. The first problem was the screaming. There were people literally screaming in the street until 4am. The bed was only preferable to the floor because I wasn't willing to try the floor there.... More

We are local (Sacramento) & stay in SF fairly often. Here's the no b.s., non-whiny review on The Pickwick. Yes, the location is great. Walking distance to BART, right down the sidewalk from Westfield Shopping, very close to Cable Car stop, & 1 mile from AT&T Park & F-Train. SF is like any other city: good & bad pockets. If... More

I stayed here with a friend for an extended Easter Vacation in San Francisco. It is conveniently located near Powell and Market Streets and only a couple of blocks south of Union Square. The hotel is nice and suited our needs. It is a bit old, but it is evident that the staff maintains this place to the best of... More

this hotel is an old one, though still decent enough. its amenities may not be up to par with the newer hotels, but my point is that, for tourist / sight seers, a hotel is a place to rest at the end of the day, you want to be comfortable, but ultimately you don't spend the entire day inside your... Stayed 3 nights here and had a great time. The staff were very friendly and helpful, clean rooms, great location. Bus stops, cable car and subway stops very near to the hotel. Would definitely recommend!

The place is well located but very noisy due to old windows. Also the room is small, the bathroom is old. The reception doesn't really care about customer needs. I called after 10pm the room service in order to pick up laundy and they told me "laundry is closed". The worst was a 5 min firealert where we all had... More

I stayed here for 5 nights while attending a conference nearby. Pros: convenient location, close to public transportation/restaurants/ shopping, helpful and friendly staff, unique and historic property. Cons: on a busy street, lots of noise (traffic, fire trucks, loud pedestrians) at night, I could hear conversations from the room next door, slow Wi-Fi. The price was much more reasonable than... Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
