Let's start with the pro: the location, near Union Square. That's it. Now the cons: when we arrived the man at the desk got mad at us because we parked for 3 minutes in front of the hostel (no more than 3 minutes, just the time to grab our luggages) while the only signal outside was to allow up to... Location! It's really easy access all of the attractions in SF from this hostel. and the price is also the lowest one among same quality hostels. **I saved more booked through HostelTimes.com with their 50% off coupon + No booking Fee.

First of all, about the cleanliness, it was the worst I experienced. The bathrooms' floor are soaked and if you dare forget your towel, somebody will use it as a bath mat! The kitchen was dirty, had huge pile of dirty plates and had flies flying around! To add to the injury, you'll meet lot of hobos around the hostel... More

My sister and I had an enjoyable stay in the SF hostel in December 2013. We were just staying a night but wished it were longer by the time we left. The hostel is affordable and provides the basics that you want for a hostel - a pancake breakfast, bottomless coffee and tea supply, cool social vibe and a golden... More

Poorly kept, bedroom wasn't vacuum I got a private room. There was trash leftover from whomever was there before me I could clearly see that they only changed the sheets and I was nibbled by bed bugs. Bathroom was also disgusting, no air circulation you have to leave door open which as a woman leaves me feeling insecure. The entrance... More

Ideal location for being in the hub of the city, also near public transport and Bart so can easily get to and from airport and around the city to different areas. Hostel was safe, clean and had great facilities. Easy to sleep at night. Only downfall is the lack of outlet plugs in the rooms, however the ensuite bathroom and... More

This place is everything you'd expect a big hostel in a big city to be, crowded, dirty and uncomfortable. The bathrooms are horrible. There are only a few bathrooms for a lot of people and they are gross. One night when I went to take a shower there was a clump of hair in the shower which is disgusting, the... More

Kind of what you expect coming to a Hostel, but some things could be better. The bathrooms are rather scarce given the amount of people on each floor, and the showers are dirty. The eating / socializing area has strange decor, is dark, and always has some dodgy cheap multi-coloured fairy lights on around the place. In terms of social... More

Being a recent international graduate student traveling on a budget I found this place very decent, reasonable price for higher than average service. People at the front desk are generally very friendly and more than happy to help with anything you need to know about SF. Bathroom is always clean, wi-fi is ok on the lower levels, but not so... Excellent location - steps away from Union Square. That is a 5. The rest is 1. Very dirty, they never take the garbage out in the rooms. The kitchen smells. overall the dirtiest hostel i have ever been.to.
