It's difficult to find cheap hostels in San Francisco, so this one is definitely well priced. Donna and the rest of the staff were helpful, fun and great to be around, and the hostel is very centrally located - 5 mins walk from the cable cars and Union Square. The actual neighbourhood is called the Tenderloin, which is known for... More

I stayed here for a few nights at the start of my trip, It is located in a decent spot, For the cable cars for example and a few little parks in the vicinity and also there is a bike shop next door where you can rent a bike! The staff were really good and very helpful ... I stayed... More

If you want to simulate what your life would be like if you were captured by a band of terrorists and the room you would get, then you cannot beat this hostel. The front desk and kitchen/common area are clean and staffs are helpful and courteous. The elevator is kinda old and interesting too, be sure to check that out.... More

I'm lying in my uncomfortable springy bed right now writing this. My sheets were stained when I got here. No towels apparently so had to go buy one at Walgreens for 6.99.. What the. disgusting outdated hostel which is obviously attempting to trick customers by its name - just up the street a block is the "Hostelling International SF" which... More

Quite a cheap hostel, so dont expect anything big. Not the cleanest place I ever stayed in. Location is very good, and recomendable. Close to cheap and good restaurants, and also quite near a laundrumat. The staff is helpfull, alto not the fastest ever.

I'm really not fussy with my accommodation, but there are minimums that can be expected no matter what.... This Hostel is on the dodgy side of town. Completely dodgy. Like I'm talking don't go out after dark dodgy. There is no washing in the hostel and the closest one is near where gangs seem to hang out. Getting hassled while... More

Despite having booked two beds in advance for a female dorm, there was nothing available. They had not managed their bookings very well, and they tried putting my friend and I in a mixed dorm, claiming that only one other man was there. The room clearly had three occupants, and we were yet again moved to another room. They claimed... More

Bad, bad neighbourhood. It's just on the edge of the Tenderloin which, during the day, is fine. At night however it's a different story. I walked to the end of the block at around 8pm one evening to go to the small grocery store and didn't feel particularly safe doing so. The sirens at night are non-stop, there is so... More

We arrived at the hostel at 10:30 am today after checking out of another hostel in the city as it was full for the next two nights (USA Hostels was our first hostel - go there, do NOT stay at this hostel!) When we arrived at reception they told us we couldn't check in until 3pm this afternoon which was... More

The place where I seem to always come back!:) Good price, safe area. You can walk to the major atractions from here. Friendly staff. Free coffee and tea. There is no breakfast included but I suggest you to make some nice porridge:)
