Whilst the value was great the location is very poor. Staff were courteous but it seemed they just wanted paying with little effort. I had little choice as there was a convention and everywhere seemed full. The room was ok if you are a smoker, I'm not and it stank of smoke the decor could do with refreshing but despite... More

Let me start of with the positive: very friendly manager/staff, great wifi service, clean beds, rooms and DISH network on TV. Negative: rough neighborhood, $20 parking per night, urine smelling parking lot, loud homeless crowd, medical marijuana shop across the street, vagrants walking around all night. I would not feel safe letting my wife or girlfriend walk around this neighborhood.... More

Unfortunately some areas of the city are more unpredictable than others. We are working to upgrade our parking area in the near future. We hope that we will see you again on your nest visit to the area. Thank you for your review. More

When other hotels in that area were soaring around 600 - 800$ a night, I wanted something under 200$ to stay without caring much about the star rating and I found this place. The beds were comfy, the room was clean and quiet. I went in with a low expectation and it fit well into what I expected - a... More

We were looking for an affordable place to stay in San Francisco, knowing we would spend very little time time in the room(just to sleep). They offered free parking (no small thing in DT San Fran). They offered coffee & danish in the morning. We just grabbed a cab to Fillmore St to go out for the evening. Our room... More

I've stayed here twice on late-booked, low-cost business trips. The first was booked by my office, the second time I paid myself because I knew it was "okay" and everything else was much more expensive. It's not the nicest area and the hotel itself is pretty shabby. The room was clean, everything worked, and the staff were pleasant, but the... More

We stayed here for four nights in late September 2014. The staff, a lady and a gentleman, whom we met at check-in and the night before check-out were friendly and helpful. The room service provided fresh bed linen and towels (almost) every day. Air condition and WiFi did work, so did the coffee maker for which enough pads were provided.... More

This old style motel is located a few minutes walking form market street and from Muni and metro station. The breakfast is not included, but ther'are 2 Starbucks and a burgher king in the nearby. In the room is avaible a fridge a microwave oven and a tv that doesn't work good. The wifi internet doesn't work but is included.... More

I stayed here for vacation and was very pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and protected from bed bugs. You need a key card to get to the rooms- my stuff was safe and sound all week. It was noisy, but not overpowering. I didn't need ear plugs, I just kept the air conditioning on (an... More

Thank you for your input regarding your recent stay at our inn. It is refreshing to hear that you had a positive experience in the heart of a major downtown area. This place. First, after staying in the city, this is not an area I would want to stay in. It's centrally located, but surrounded by riffraff. My first impression after walking in was that it was very loud. The staff had a child in the back who was running around the office. Once I checked in, they ran my credit... More

The room is fine, quite comfortable, and the location is pretty decent. It's only a couple of blocks from BART and Muni, and there's parking too of course. But it's very NOISY. This is an old motel, on the corner of 9th and Mission. There's a building site opposite, but it's the cars, buses, trucks, and everything else that creates... More

Thank you for your input regarding your recent stay at our inn. Unfortunately, you are absolutely correct, we are located at busy corner and at times it can be a bit noisy. We have insulated windows in all of our rooms, but there are times when it is less than ideal to block out the street noise. Nevertheless, we hope... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
