The hotel it self is small, small rooms, extremely small bathrooms. The staff if friendly but takes long time to clean rooms. All of that could be overlooked but the worst thing is the location, located far from all main landmarks, dirty neighbourhood. Lots of bums around.

Really well located. All the interiors are nice and have this unique stile. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. I liked that the rooms are always super clean and the staff are always giving their best. Good value for your money

I got this place as I needed to go to the convention center and it was only about a mile away. Pretty old property that has had some recent paint etc. But you can't fix a single, tiny elevator nor really small bathroom. I'd be hesitant to stay there during summer as no AC and with the windows open it... More

I was very pleased with this hotel & would definitely use again and/or recommend. The neighborhood just south of the hotel was pretty sketchy, but if you stay north (o'Farrell) its quite trendy, lots to do, and safe. Very close to union square & the cable car line. I was able to check in 3 hours early and they held... More

Sure it's old, sure the double rooms are small but that's what I was expecting. The staff is amazing, the rooms are clean, there is room to sleep. What else do you need?the Mark Twain decor is really great. I would stay again because you can't beat simple, clean, and an amazing staff. Thank you for making our trip so... More

Tonight is my second night at the Mark Twain. It's a stylish little place with some nice touches. Negatives: the rooms are a little small with no view (I'm at the back) the bathroom is teeny tiny - with a mini bath, and it's a bit noisy, street noise, noise from other rooms. The positives are the decor is lovely,... More

The Hotel Mark Twain was perfect for a fun weekend stay in San Francisco. The rooms are well designed, combining old-style charm with modern trends. The details are thoughtful. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The in-room temperature is a bit difficult to control, but overall just fine. The location is just a few blocks from Union... More

This is a very nice hotel in a good location, I read some of the "not so flattering" reviews and thankfully I did not pay attention. The reason for my stay was a conference and the price was very reasonable, compared to other near by. Here are the reasons for my positive review: The hotel is full of charm the... More

This hotel is so cute! Everything down to their "do not disturb signs" are detailed with Mark Twain themed decor! I was told the hotel was recently renovated and was pleasantly surprised to how modern it looked with a little twist of history incorporated in (there are Mark Twain quotes everywhere). This hotel has a great location, however the parking... More

The hotel tries, but the rooms do have a bit of a dated feel. It is clean and very conveniently located. You need to walk about 3 blocks to get to Union Square, but then you are a 2 blocks away from the Powell Street station for the cable car and the Westfield shopping center. The price is right for...
