The only good thing about this place is the friendly staff. That's it. Proximity maybe too (near Powell, Union Market, and a couple of good eateries). Bed were broken. No plug for the bath. No glasses. Not particularly clean. If spend almost $900 you expect waaaay better. You can find a better place for that, just a pity there was... More

We spent one night at the Dakota in a 6 pax dorms. PROS : bathroom in the dorm, big and clean kitchen, free breakfast, free computer with internet access in the lobby. CONS : bad neighborhood (real bad), really old beds, no table or other furniture in the room, windows were not secured at all and anyone could have accessed... More

Dear Marie, We're sorry your visit was not completely to your satisfaction. We're glad you enjoyed the free breakfast and computer use as well as use of the kitchen. The hotel partners with the Adelaide Hostel and the Fitzgerald Hotel and so if one hotel is full, we might have to send people to one of the other properties, which... More

Can't beat the location. The rooms had ZERO security. None of the windows had locks including the ones entering the shared fire escape. So basically anyone in a room above or below could step out onto the fire escape go up and down, slide open your windows and access your room. Also a second window adjacent to the next fire... More

The Dakota is pretty much exactly as you would expect. The highlight of the experience staying here, however, is definitely the free dinners. Chilli night and Pasta night are delicious! The staff cooks in the kitchen so you get a FREE home-cooked meal and you can meet other guests. Plus, the food is always very high-quality, similar to what you... More

Its decent... Great location, old school feel, but nothing special. If you don't have a choice or wanna stay for only 1 or 2 nights.. I've stayed in few other places in the area whenever i came to SF - some better, some worse. This one is middle of the pack.

It was...ok. Very old, very tiny, the scariest elevator i've ever ride. Great location, tho. Breakfast was meh. I woldn't say it's the worst place I could stay, but it wasn't good either. Besides, they're not flexible at all for early and late check-ins/outs. Plan to get on time.

Be very careful in staying am Adelaide Hostel or Dakota Hotel, well located, plus the service is very bad, not to mention the staff who are all on drugs, are always at the door, using and selling drugs. My friend, was hosted by an official of Dakota Hotel, and it muiro serious, local drug and sexual harassment, care.

The taxi driver had no idea where the hotel was, but once I got there I was pleasantly surprised. I picked a mixed bed room and was just assuming it was predominantly a hostel but it's a pretty even split between shared and private rooms. There is a lift, but it's very old (one of the oldest functioning ones in... More

Reading Lonely Planet before my trip left me no doubt that the Adelaide Hostel would be a good choice for my stay in San Francisco. So I booked a dorm bed on their website and looked forward to my first night on my California road trip. When I arrived at the small courtyard where the entrance is located I was... More

I knew San Francisco was not going to be cheap for accommodation, but $210 for a double room for one night in this place is extortionate. Booked through booking.com & price they quote as being "price you pay" is not accurate, as of course you have to pay VAT and taxes on top. For over $200 a night I would... More
