We had originally planned to stay near Fishermans Wharf but friends advised staying near Union Square and they were right, a great location at the heart of things with no shortage of places to dine within easy walking distance and right on the Powell Hyde and Powell Mason cable car routes. Room was comfortable and well appointed although bathroom was... More

Great place to stay. Stayed on the 15th of October 2014. Very pricy for one night ($400.00 plus). At that price one would think Wi-Fi would be free of charge, but no - 12.95 per day. Come on guys, is this really necessary. I stayed at much cheaper hotels than this and had free Wi-Fi. Why must you empty everyone's... More

The hotel staff was great - friendly & helpful. The bar was ok (no draft beers) The rooms were modern & comfortable. But i guess what got me was poor wifi- aside from getting charged - every time i'd use either a new device (iPad vs computer vs smartphone) had to go thru what felt like the full log in... More

Someone broke into our room and stole my wallet and backpack. Hotel security kept saying that I lost these items and they considered them only "missing". They suggested that we look behind the curtains and under the beds. They refused to belief us and treated us like we were making this up when clearly it was theft. Even the housekeeping... More

Spent several nights here on business. Found the hotel to be a nice place to stay. It's far enough up the Powell St hill to be away from the intensity of the crowds closer to Union Sq and Market St. But it's close enough to easily walk to Union Sq and everything around it. My room had a nice bay... More

I visited SF to attend the Giants play off game. This was the first time I stayed at this hotel and was very pleased with the location, rooms, food and service. I would recommend the concierge level as it provides breakfast in the morning, snacks, soda, juice water and coffee during the entire day and non-hosted alcoholic beverages in the... More

If you need or want to stay near Union Square, the San Francisco Marriott is one of several choices. It has little else to recommend it. The rack rate is off the edge: $850 a night. For that you get a good-sized room that is without a fridge or microwave and that has the stingiest array of toiletries I've seen... More

Thank you for staying with us and providing comments about your stay. I apologize the guestroom did not meet your expectations. I appreciate the feedback. On another note, based on customer research and feedback, Marriott has replaced one bar of soap with body wash. Sincerely, Oscar R. General Manager More

We stayed one night at the nearby marriott marquis and now are at this marriott-quite a difference. At the marquis, staff were there to open the front door every time we entered. Not so at the union square property. Staff definitely aloof here. We asked for and received a quiet room-very quiet. The room was large but poorly designed. There... More

The San Francisco Marriott Union Square was the perfect place for us to stay when we celebrated our anniversary. It was well placed in the Union Square shopping district, and only a couple of blocks from Chinatown. We could pick up the cable car across the street. But, the best thing about the hotel is the staff. We were upgraded... More

The rooms are small, typical of a city hotel. Sink has no counter and you can touch both walls with your arms out. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the desk was a nice workspace. Views were not that great compared to other locations in the city. The lobby bar and Resturant were dead and boring. I... More
